We want to head out this year for Thanksgiving. Our kids get the entire week of school off. I guess we'd be looking for swimming, beach, wildlife, outdoors type stuff. We have multiple kids in the 4-10 range. No cruises. I have not done an all-inclusive resort type thing... not opposed but am not a huge fan of insane crowds or things that feel huge. All the activities and offerings of an all inclusive resort that happens to be slightly more secluded would be better.

    Areas we've thought of:
    Carribean
    Hawaii
    Scottsdale
    Florida

    But just not sure...

    Any thoughts, recommendations or suggestions?!?!?!

I would, but I'm not taking a cruise with 4 kids aged 4-10 and only 2 parents. Lol.

Scottsdale AZ? What swimming is there to be done there (sorry not familiar)? Just thought I'd chime in and say if it's some sort of natural swimming hole or river, be sure to check on how warm the water will be in late November. Same for some parts of Florida depending on the whatever currents/weather are taking place at the time.

Jungle Jeanie's By The Sea in Hopkins Belize. Airfare is usually cheaper than flying to some US States, cottages are reasonably priced. This part of Belize has fewer tourists than the islands. Beaches and views are just absolutely beautiful. Privately owned, the staff is super friendly. I've stayed there a couple of times and would definitely recommend. You can walk on the beach, go swimming, go hiking in the jungle (always, with a tour guide). Snorkeling is big there (has the second largest reef in the world). USD is accepted everywhere. Would not recommend exchanging currency.

Definitely understand this sentiment, lol, but we just did 2.5 weeks in California and everything went surprisingly very well.

It would just be a resort. Scottsdale and Phoenix in general have tons of resorts - most golf focused, but as resorts they'd have decent pools, etc. Then we'd have the benefits of the city and mountain nearby to explore.

    Thanks, will check it out.

If you're looking for something a little more family-friendly, we've been to the Disney resort in Vero Beach a few times and loved it. Private beach, gigantic pool, poolside bar, lots of nightly activities for the kids, poolside bar........

If you're thinking November, that water is going to be COLD. It's cold in August!

Gotcha. Didn't know it was cold in August there, wouldn't have guessed that. We had no problem in the pacific in June/July... well, the southern pacific. Didn't get in north of Santa Barbara.

Is the Caribbean cold in November?

Honestly man, just hit up a nice state park for a week. Texas has a great State Park system and they are very clean. You could just go out there and set up a nice camp spot and spend the week outdoors. Somewhere like Martin Dies, Tyler, or Huntsville. Sounds perfect to me.

(Most parks offer pretty nice little cabins if tent camping isn't your thing.)

On the nose! I grew up here and while I love being outside in the wilderness hiking for hours, being lost in a forest....but sleeping outside is an entirely different beast. 90 degrees at night, waking up wet from humidity, and the cacophony of bugs....no thanks. Give me a cabin with AC and I can rough it the other 18 hours.
