He's been completely useless in the last 3 games averaging just 3 points. After the hot start he's finally coming back down to earth.
That 3 is looking ugly. He also uses the same two moves to get shots, so is very predictable. First is hard dribble between the legs to a step back 3. Other is jab right, hesitate, go right. Neither is really working.
It's our fault we got too excited about him... he's good for a minimum guy, but that run was unsustainable.
that's the problem alot of people on the board have when they overreact to a solid stretch of games. eventually everything regresses back to what typically a player really is. rivers just like any other role player has consistency issues. that won't change here. he just needs to find other ways to contribute if its a night where his offense isn't having a good day
Agreed, I think he does better with Harden on the bench so he can become Harden lite especially with the drives. Needs to do more of that.
shut your ass up with this dumb thread we are lucky that we were able to pick up a legit rotation level guard off the scrap heap...I like our depth at the guard position once CP3 comes back Rivers will be our 4th guard instead of the corpse of Brandon Knight
Thats wrong. You should still be excited. It's a big adjustment to play with Gordo. When Harden is out Gordo likes to play fast, control the ball, drive, launch 3's 3 feet behind the line. He is ball dominant and it's an adjustment. Much like we are saying that Faried needs a chance to practice with the team. Austin Rivers deserves the same benefit of doubt. RIvers hasn't really had the opportunity to go through a practice with Eric Gordon yet. Allow time for adjustments to be made and chemistry to develop bro
It's shocking to say the least even considering him having to play with a hand that is hurting. The absence of House is hurting the team, no matter how you spin it.
He's regressed, but I still like how he plays. He does what the Rockets want: 3's and drives. He plays smart and within the system, and he's still a solid defender. Once he moves back to the bench, he'll produce more, I would imagine.
Yup. Rivers sucks, Faried was the worst most stupidest signing, Morey has no clue, Til(L)man is broke....
Good to see the sun came up and Clutchfans is overreacting. Everything is the status quo. Rivers is Rivers, not an All-star, not a scrub, just a decent player that sometimes can play like crap and sometime help you win. That is 80% of the NBA.
I'm excited about having a respectable backup for the minimum, I just don't think the run he was having was sustainable. I agree he will benefit from more practice time, but that doesn't mean he's going to be shooting 50% from 3 and playing lockdown defense down the stretch like he did in his first games.
