With all the tank bowls going on late into the season, many games become meaningless blowouts or interesting only to see who loses. Many players will be doomed to play for terribly run organizations, only able to leave 6-7 years into their career if they are any good. I think I came up with a system that incentivizes making the team appeal to the players to obtain minimal errors.

One: Replace draft picks with 4-year deals of differing sizes a team can offer to a prospect based on record, EG: the worst team can offer ONE 4-year 80 million dollar contract, the second worst can offer a 4-year 76 million dollar contract, the 10th pick can offer 4/40, the 14th pick can offer 4/36 etc...

All the non-playoff teams pick first, then all the playoff teams. If a player is willing to give up money to play for a more well run team that appeals to him more, then more power to him.

Of course, there is no way in hell this is ever implemented, the Owners would hate it, it drives up the cost of being a bad team, and the NBAPA would hate it, as young teams can no longer throw crazy contracts at veteran players while their young players are on rookie deals.

So to stop intentional tanking you want to replace a system that rewards bad teams with a system that rewards bad teams?
