Houston Rockets could be “best scoring team in the league” says Carmelo Anthony’s trainer

Carmelo Anthony will sign with the Houston Rockets any day.

At 34-years-old, many have questioned Anthony’s durability and productivity going into the 2018-19 season. Last season, the three-time U.S. Olympic gold medalist averaged 16 points and 5 rebounds with the Thunder; career lows.

One guy responsible in keeping the ten-time NBA All-Star working like a well-oiled machine is trainer, Chris Brickley.

“Right now, the emphasis is getting him in the best shape of his life,” Chris Brickley told me on Scoop B Radio.

Brickley’s off-season training program has been one of the most talked about and attended programs in basketball circles.

LeBron James, J.R. Smith, Kristaps Porzingis and WNBA legend, Cappie Pondexter have all trained with Brickley.

    Added Brickley on Anthony:

“He’s super positive right now, has great energy; so we’ve changed the workouts a little bit compared to what they used to be. But you know he’s still Melo, still one of the greatest scorers of all time.”

Anthony will join a Rockets team that went 65-17 last season and made a trip to the NBA’s Western Conference Finals and lost to eventual champions, Golden State Warriors.

This offseason, the Rockets signed Clint Capela to an extension and re-signed Chris Paul. The Rockets lost their key defensive cog in Trevor Ariza, who signed a one-year $15 million deal with the Phoenix Suns.

Offensively, Anthony will look to shoulder the loss of Ariza’s loss.

“Before we were just focused on mid-post stuff and now we’re still doing that,” said Brickley.

“But we’ve added a lot more running and threes and shooting threes while he’s tired, as many threes as possible.”

Carmelo Anthony holds career averages of 24 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. He once played under current Houston Rockets coach, Mike D’Antoni when they were both employed as player and coach, respectfully under the New York Knicks.

Anthony also has a rapport with James Harden and Chris Paul. Brickley oversaw them training together earlier this summer. “They played unbelievable,” he said.

“Hopefully they’re the best scoring team in the league. Hopefully, they have that cohesion and hopefully, they’re literally they’re a team that’s hard to stop.”

We already had the #1 offense last year and were on pace for the GOAT offense before some injuries and the last few meaningless games.

This is evidence that it is micro kilometers from scoring.

He trained with this guy last summer. Results were poor. Hope it's different, but frankly Melo needs to be put in the hands of Rockets trainers and I'm not sure they'll have enough time to get him into the elite shape he needs to be in to be part of a historic upset of the Warriors.

Listen to Potato (jesus) on @The Cat podcast.

    He is so right.

Offseason videos and reports about Melo's intensive training are an annual thing.

I think the “hopefully “ was referring to possibly having the best scoring team in the league .

Trainers words mean as little as a fly bragging about the dog **** he just landed on. Remember Tracy’s trainer, that guy was funny...

In before "Sounds to me like Melo's decided to sign with someone else."
