I keep getting this annoying popup on some websites telling me to install and run Macromedia Flash Player. I think I even used to get it on NBA.com but not any longer. Does anyone know what it is? Spyware? Is it safe to click "Yes" to download it? Thanks!
Yes, it's safe. It's not spyware, it's just an application that allows your browser to see pictures and flash animations. You know how sometimes when you go to a website and instead of seeing pictures, all you get is an "x". Well macromedia flash player fixes that for you. I hope that helps you out a little bit.
It's a program that's used to play vector animations. Flash technology is made by Macromedia. A ton of websites use it - Clutch uses it on the front page. Yes, it's ok to download it.
Dr of Dunk and randerson153 - Thanks so much. This popup problem has been "bugging" me for a long time. I do get the "x" in place of a picture frequently (although it seemed to go away when I installed a larger hd). I am (still) on a phone modem so I anticipate this will improve my website download speed. Very much appreciated. Gater
You anticipate incorrectly. It is just a player that will enable you to see a certain type of media. If anything, it will slow down some websites, as you'll now download the flash files as well, in order to view them.
