Def don't think the number plays any part. Suns also had a super ugly jersey style. Lakers can sell anything. George I think was up there a few years ago. Ever since the injury all his hype died and Pacers are irrelevant to most fans. #13 athletes who did well with nice logos / jerseys. Marino & A Rod. ?
Not that our uniforms don't suck, but the Bucks have got great jerseys after a summer rebrand, plus they have one of the NBA's most well-liked players in Giannis. Even if we did have good uniforms, that's tough competition.
I thought Chow Key was drafted just for this purpose. To increase marketing and jersey sales. Seems to be not working. Sign back YAO please
Huh? He's 10 in sales despite having an absolutely horrid jersey cut and scheme. If anything, that shows that kids love his game so much they are willing to sacrifice style to rep his jersey. Weak correlation/causation arguments all around.
With Nike taking over next season, what are the chances the Rockets do some sort of re-branding? How many Rockets fans love the current scheme?
People in this thread are complaining about how ugly our uniforms are (no argument here), but the real reason he is so low is because casual fans just don't really like him. Plain and simple he is not a fan favourite. Outside of this forum people have this perception of him as a terrible defender and flopper. It sucks, because it means no one really gets to appreciate the greatness of Harden. Media conspiracy and all that aside, this is why there isn't a tonne of Harden chatter in the media, the casual fans would rather hear about LeBron, Curry, Westbrook, Durant etc. Just my two cents and reading comments about Harden on other forums and discussion boards. Dude gets a lot of unwarranted hate.
I mean, he's still 10th, and that's with our hideous jerseys, it's not like he's 30th in jersey sales. He was also voted in as a starter for the all star game. He finished 3rd overall in fan voting with almost 1.8 million votes. The only guys who had more were Lebron and Curry. Harden's popularity is rising if u ask me.
Jersey sales ultimately don't matter, but it's hilarious that 4 of the top 11 all play for the Warriors.
