How to explain the Trump's interest in the Greenland deal? Did Fox have a story on it? Did Trump see a tweet that only white people live in Greenland?

I mean, if it was for sale at a reasonable price, I'd do it. Mineral wealth, geographically advantageous vis-a-vis Russia, pre-empts Russian purchase, hems in Canada on 3 sides, and utility only goes up with global warming. But, it's not for sale so it's all kinda moot.

    Mr trump is a child.

Trump postpones Denmark trip after Prime Minister refuses to discuss sale of Greenland

(CNN)Less than two weeks before his scheduled trip to Denmark, President Donald Trump announced on Twitter that he has postponed his visit to Copenhagen after the Danish Prime Minister disputed his interest in buying Greenland as "absurd."

"Denmark is a very special country with incredible people, but based on Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen's comments, that she would have no interest in discussing the purchase of Greenland, I will be postponing our meeting scheduled in two weeks for another time," he wroteTuesday night.

He continued, "The Prime Minister was able to save a great deal of expense and effort for both the United States and Denmark by being so direct. I thank her for that and look forward to rescheduling sometime in the future!"

A White House official confirmed to CNN that the entire trip to Denmark is being scrapped.

Trump has on multiple occasions brought up buying Greenland from the Danish government and the White House counsel's office has looked into the possibility, two sources told CNN last week.

On Sunday, Trump confirmed his interest in buying the country, telling reporters that Greenland is hurting Denmark.

"We are good allies with Denmark. We protect Denmark like we protect large portions of the world, and the concept came up," the President said in New Jersey before heading back to Washington. "Strategically it's interesting, and we would be interested, but we will talk with them a little bit."

But Frederiksen was not amused, telling the newspaper Sermitsiaq, "Greenland is not for sale. Greenland is not Danish. Greenland belongs to Greenland."

"I strongly hope that this is not meant seriously," she said, calling the conversations "an absurd discussion."

Though it appears Trump's inquiries were serious, the President had made light of the reports, joking with a meme of the golden Trump International Hotel of Las Vegas photoshopped onto a seaside Greenland town and writing on Twitter, "I promise not to do this to Greenland!"

When Trump confirmed his interest in the Greenland purchase on Sunday, he had suggested his trip to Denmark was not related.

"We're going to Poland and then we may be going to Denmark -- not for this reason at all. But we're looking at it (purchasing Greenland). It's not number one on the burner," he told reporters.

Trump and first lady Melania Trump had accepted an invitation to visit Her Majesty Margrethe II, Queen of Denmark, and he had been expected to participate in a series of bilateral meetings and meet with business leaders, according to the White House.

It's unclear whether the postponement will affect his scheduled visit to Warsaw, Poland -- part of the same trip -- where he is to attend commemorative ceremonies and visit memorial sites for the 80th anniversary of the beginning of World War II.

    There won’t be a recession.

We won’t have a recession although the rest of the world is headed to a recession.

We may have a mini recession but it isn’t my fault, it is the rest of the world’s fault.

Why not just trade Alaska to Denmark for Greenland. Or better yet, trade Alaska to Denmark to make Trump King of Greenland and thereby force him to leave the US

My brother has had this idea for years...the Brits got it right. Find a giant island in the middle of nowhere and send all of your dumbasses and assholes there. He also says people should be declared "legally stupid" and deported there.

Snubbing Denmark, a good ally, member of the EU and of NATO, over something so stupid is pretty embarrassing. I won't be surprised if Trump does other things to bully Denmark, because that's how he rolls. I foresee a threat to put a tariff on Legos like the threat on French wines earlier.

It sounds ludicrous, yet exactly the sort of childish thing he is quite capable of doing. Denmark is a wonderful country. They are also an ally of many decades standing. Denmark aided us in Afghanistan and Iraq, standing by us after 9/11, like so many of our allies did, and are a member of NATO. Sounds like exactly the sort of small yet important country trump would **** with in an immature snit because the government and the people on the street laughed at his "let's buy Greenland!" absurdity.

The "man" is crazy. He's mad. Mr trump's losing his mind, and apparently has no one surrounding him who will disagree with his actions and tell him so. They are afraid of a madman. A madman "elected" to our highest office. The world is wondering just what the **** is going on in the great United States. His insanity is tearing this country apart, bit by bit. It's like he has agents of a foreign power whispering in his ear on a daily basis, guiding him to do one act of madness after another. What trump is doing is simply too diabolical to be a random "accident," in my opinion. I think he is being used, and the world and our country are the ones being abused.

I know there are many who still find the idea of trump being used by a hostile foreign power to weaken us, our friends and allies, and our standing in the world, but if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, has feathers and can swim, the odds are pretty damn good that it’s a duck. Mr trump looks a hell of a lot like a “duck” having it’s strings pulled by Vladimir Putin, in my humble opinion.

Double post - accidental, but take it as emphasis.

    Coming this Christmas 2019:
One jolly old man and an army of elves who just wanted to live a peaceful life of toy building find themselves on the receiving end of the US Military in “Trump buys The North Pole”.

Now Trump says the Danish prime minister was nasty in rejecting the Greenland suggestion. His feelings were hurt. Now, really I can see that point of view because the Danes were really strong in their rebuke, saying it was "absurd," an April Fools joke, etc. Not really respectful. Even so, it was still Trump who caused the first offense because he made this offer in public and forced a public response from Denmark. And, they needed to make a strong statement to assure the people of Greenland that there wasn't some back-room conversation in the offing. From remarks, it sounds like Trump had already floated the idea in private channels and was rejected, so he went on to make the offer publicly. Was he looking to pick a fight?

The President treated the Danes like they are something he stepped in. He seriously thought he could just but a country and all the people that live there would just have to deal with it.

In fairness, it would be a very strong strategic place from a military perspective........ especially after that absurd "report" that the USA could lose a land war against Russia or China.... anything to put pressure on increasing funding.
