How long does Barnes and Noble have? I can't see them being profitable much at all currently.

Interesting, sadly it's probably true unfortunately... Sucks they don't even have anything good, back in the compusa closing the only regret I have is not buying more.... Hahah made insane profit flipping stuff, I think these companies got smart to that. I'm normally not interested in doing this... but made like 3-400% profit. I only suggest doing it on big ticket items, forget wasting time with small stuff. Unfortunately Frys is basically dead. - but at compusa for example bought a few computer power supplies for $30-60 each, sold all for $120-180+ each. Unfortunately.. I listened to someone who didn't know a lot on computers and put 1/2 my cart back.... Oh well, gave some stuff Away and made back money even though I was still selling them at a loss (at least in the ebayers mind), so basically everyone was happy.

I don't know if I'd even waste my time on this one, Frys basically has less stuff than my garage at this point... With that said I wouldn't mind trying to get some LPs or some crazy audio equipment (but it's probably all gone)

Yep, did the same when the Fry's on 59 in Stafford decided to remove the real motherboards from the walls and put up photos. They sold $200-$400 mother boards for 30-60 bucks. They all came with the original warranty. I swapped out my motherboard for one and flipped the others.

Damn, very nice score! If I get a chance to do it again I'm definitely going with my knowledge on this stuff. It was just silly man, I listened to someone who still doesn't know the market like I do on computer parts.. I made a decent amount but could have made a lot more. Oh well, next time.

I honestly wish Frys was still good though, it just sucks watching all the retail die like this, I mean if you need something in a hurry it was great, and the more competitors the better for us, but when I go into a Frys looking for a capacitor or even solder and they don't have it... It's in a pretty sorry state. Especially when their computer parts selection is essentially gone.

hmm, wonder if I can get a deal on a 10 inch tablet by going to Frys. Thing is if they haven't gotten new shipments for 9 months, I don't think buying a year old model for 50% is THAT good of a deal anyway...

I went there yesterday and was shocked to see how empty it was. I went to the Webster location. This post explains why it was so empty. It really is sad to see it going away. I even took pictures to show my friends on how terrible it looks.

    They never left, haha.

How long does Barnes and Noble have? Hard to say. They were recently purchased by the owner of a very successful book store chain in the United Kingdom, who's name escapes me at the moment. There will be big changes at their stores, and the marginally profitable ones will likely be closed. As someone who both reads novels on an e-reader (not great if what you're reading has illustrations or images of one kind or another), and still buys books, I hope the Englishman pulls it off. I go out of my way to purchase books and other things from one of the country's best independent bookstores, Book People, here in Austin. I don't read novels off of my iPad. It's really not very good for that. Just the e-reader and the real thing.

I buy books too still. Which will pick back up once I finish school. Book People is great, although I haven’t been there in a while.

We’re quickly reaching the point where brick and mortar doesn’t make sense for anything other than “need it RIGHT now” items like toilet paper.

Thanks for the suggestion on Book People. I prefer trying to buy physical copies if I'm reading something like a novel. I dunno... I don't mind reading articles or textbooks on my phone/computer/tablet but some books it definitely is better to actually own a tangible copy.

I also still buy physical media - LPs/certain CDs if it's an artist I'm a huge fan of.

It makes me think of the King of Rohan and the charge of the Rohirrim at the White City.

In order to protect jobs and society, we need to levy a fairness tax on online shops.....to level the playing field.

Texas started taxing all online shopping this year, even without a physical presence in the state. :(
