That Lebron could sniff cocaine on national TV and he wouldn't be banned

Interesting read. Wish him the best. For now, his mind seems to be in the right place.

Mayo was a pretty solid two-way player before he got banned and will probably have no problems getting a contract once his ban is lifted. The key thing here is he is still young (only 29) so he still has 5+ playing years left once he is reinstated. He might be forced to sign a cheapo 3M or so deal but if he checks out he can sign a nice deal afterwards.

There are two things I find a bit sketchy about his story though: first is he wasn't banned for cocaine given that his dad got jailed for pushing cocaine and that all his friends and assistants abandoned him once he got banned in the NBA. First of all it's a bit hard to believe he won't get coke considering he has such an easily available source. Secondly, his assistants and homies aren't associating with him because he is an NBA player, they are with him because he is a multi-millionaire. That's not how the life of an assistant works, they will still manage his affairs whether or not he is in the NBA. And as for his homies they are probably the ones who got him into drugs in the first place, it's even more unlikely they will leave him just because he got banned. Perhaps he is in direr straights financially than he let on, the only reason I can think of when your assistants and homies abandon you is when you can't pay them anymore. Regardless, I hope things turn out well for him and he gets his life back on track.

I remember when OJ was in HS he said something along the lines of how he wasn't worried of going to the NBA or being an all star. Rather was more concerned if he could make hall of fame one day as the other goals were considered to be no brainers at the time. The hype was real.

Interesting how life can humble us over time. I'm actually glad a lot of people revealed themselves to him in his downfall. Now, when/if he gets back into the league, he can work for the right reasons: his own damn self & his family. The hype women and yes men were never real supporters (if they were, he wouldn't have been getting high), and he ended up taking his career for granted cause of that.
