No acknowledgement that JD Martinez just hit 4 HRs in a game?

I mean we've beaten a dead horse with JD. They should have no regrets about that decision, he had every chance to stick here and even went unclaimed on waivers afterwards.

Has an Astro ever hit 4 HRs in a game? I think it's only been done around 28 times ever.

Edit: nope. 18 total. Most recent: Scooter Gennett 2017, Hamilton 2012, Delgado 2003, Greene 2002, Papa Daz Cameron 2002

All 3 players in Fiers/Gomez trade in lineup tonight. Hader got the win, Santana with HR 29 and Phillips also started.

    So? **** 'em.

Hader would be handy in the pen right now, we said that at the time he was traded.. Phillips vs. the "untradable" Fisher. So there's that.

    Santana was always tradebait.

But it's always been expected. As deep as the talent is in the organization, a lot of guys will be in the major and productive, and some for other teams. You just can't play them all.

I hated to see Teoscar go, but he needed to play.

There should be a system where instead of having a rule 5 draft, teams can expose their blocked prospects and get compensation draft picks or additional international bonus money.

Teams invest a lot of time and resources, and sometimes lose players for practically no compensation.

They pretty much gave up all star level hitter. They should be disappointed they couldn't fix him.

Sometimes you break up with a girl and she uses that opportunity for self-reflection and decides to improve herself. Next thing you know, she's stopped being so judgemental and lost 25 lbs.

Doesn't make your decision at the time incorrect.

The Astros are still pushing a 100 wins, despite not having any of that young talent and both Fiers/Gomez flaming out.

Push the chips in more and more... this team's core is that good, and deserves every bit of supplementation as possible.

How disappointed are they in McHugh and Harris?

    It happens to everybody.

McHugh & Harris were waiver claims. Those teams added a roster spot by waiving them, which at least has value. We had zero reason to release JD (the player who's job it would have cost in AAA is Adron Chambers who was older and had failed even more so, but was a former Cardinal and Luhnow loved those). If JD had been claimed off waivers, it would have been okay, but we gave him away just to give him away.

The guy had hundreds of MLB PAs to try and prove himself here. It didn't work, he went unclaimed on waivers. There was absolutely no reason to believe he would turn into an above average MLB player, let alone this.
