    Long overdue...

Hire Duke Tobin from the Bengals. Brown family nepotism won't let him climb the ladder but he's really good.

I figured if it's an actual thread maybe that helps it happen.

True. He might be awesome at what he does, but since no one seems to know what that is it's hard for us to evaluate his performance. Seems like a good dude so we should probably extend his deal just to be safe.

    Maybe that's it.

Maybe Bob and Rick think the coaches are supposed to find the talent, and maybe the coaches think it's Rick's job.

This whole thing has just been one giant misunderstanding.

The proper time to do so was when they let Kubiak go. That was when McNair should have gotten a different type of GM - one who could actually construct a team. Instead he kept Rick who only gets the players that the coaches want him to procure. That's why I'm not blaming him for the mess I'm seeing today because we saw the same thing happen under Kubiak. At any rate, Smith is a goner after this season so it'll be up to McNair to get this next GM hire right.

I think he spends all day in his office cleaning and polishing the oak shelves.

From the pics I've seen, he's good at keeping a clean office.

Get Brennan Williams, Slaton, Jones, and Barwin off that list and you make a better point.

He's not to blame because both Kubes and OB had/have full control over the roster. The problem is, the guy in charge of the roster needs to go. But then who do you give control of the roster to? The next coach? It didn't work with Kubes or OB. Should we expect the next coach to be better at putting a roster together? Would you give actual control to Rick? The kind of control people think he has now? But he's not that kind of GM, he's the kind that does all the other stuff. I think you have to replace both. Firing Rick without OB isn't going to change anything because OB still has control of the roster. He's still making the draft picks. We need a new coach who only coaches and a new GM who's in charge of building the roster.

Firing Rick seems like Changing the Color on the Uniforms

How can you say that? Bringing in a competent GM would DRASTICALLY change things.....
