“Ennis’ play in training camp immediately grabbed attention, with teammates quickly raving about his energy. But his style in games had especially convinced D’Antoni that his new small forward would fit well with the starters while allowing Gordon to remain in the sixth man role that worked so smoothly the past two seasons.”

Great to have such a strong defensive starting unit, and 2 killers off the bench in Ego and Melo.

Nice Read. Now that the shot clock is three seconds you need players like him.

I watched very little of the preseason as I was on vacation, but only inferring from what I know of them, I would say that Melo and EG shouldn´t share so many minutes on the floor. Both should be the killers in the perimeter. Not sure having BOTH at all times will extract the most of them. Both needs the ball as well.

Maybe having EG when Harden plays point guard, and Melo with CP3 when they are rotating their point guard minutes, might make more sense.
Whoever is having the best game, earns the few minutes they will rotate when Harden and CP3 are both on the floor.

If both are awesome, then it is a Rockets blowout already. Go sit ;)

I wish I wasn't too lazy to go back and look for the person who attacked me for predicting Ennis would start over Melo.

Queue the "Harden is surrounded by elite talent like James Ennis" talking points for the haters.

Awesome, let the defense first mentality carry on and Melo show what he can do as a scorer off the bench!

Still surprised Luc passed on this opportunity. He would have been starting with a chance to get a nice contract next offseason. Anyway, I think Houston is better off with Ennis.

I really like the make up of this team. I think this years squad will be stronger than last year.

Totally agree with D’Antoni’s choice of lineup/rotations to start the year.
