I personally am not that worried tho. Yes Harden held the ball much longer than other players, but he mostly dribbles the ball on the same spots to freeze the oppnoent players. -- Not all that energy consuming to me.

Now that CP3 is back and Capela will be back right away, Harden's usage will decrease naturally?

Or, should we be worried about his usage rate and DMA needs to do something?

40% usage for an entire season while having to carry a bunch of role players and scrubs takes its toll

He’s a lot smarter now than before. CP3 will take some of that down, especially when he goes into playoff mode. Capela will help a lot. When you don’t have to go all the way into the paint all the time and take contact, it’s less tiring. That floater is like a layup for him now too. Plus all the fouls that he draws gives him breathers extends his ability to stay on the floor and produce what he does consistently.

You can rationalize it all you want, but the fact of the matter is no team in the league has a more concentrated point of attack and the team we are trying to beat has been relatively successful at diminishing his effectiveness. More importantly, our defense is nowhere near that of last season's team so without improvement it's unlikely that even CP3 stepping up would be enough to get us over the hump.

You may forget but CP3 carrying the team for a couple of games is what made the Warriors incapable of guarding us adequately and that's what led to us going up 3-2. We are one of the best offensive teams in the NBA but to win a title we either have to be totally unguardable or we have to improve our defense. We have way more room to improve our defense, our offense is a matter of Paul and Gordon taking advantage of the attention Harden draws with smart plays. Gordon needs to take a couple of more seconds with his trigger and Paul needs to do the opposite. I have faith in MDA to figure out the offense, but it's the defense that will be the difference maker for us.
