As I recall, he was leading the league in post up attempts (and was awful at them). He asked Morey for more post ups. Morey said no. He quit on us. He definitely did not need more post ups.
I am not a Dwight fan; I agree, he quit. Good riddance to him. I'm aware of the league-leading amount of post-ups Dwight got. These type of post-ups were obviously not the quality or amount of touches he wanted. Just because Dwight lead the league in post touches, doesn't mean it was enough for him. I'm just curious if the Rockets asked him what he wanted instead of saying this is what you get. I'm also curious if the Rockets showed Dwight just how awful he was in the post so he would stop asking for it so much. (I'm sure they did) I remember Dwight being pretty frustrated because he wouldn't get the ball when he pinned a defender. No one knew how to pass in the post. If someone knew how to pass to the post when Dwight had position, there would be no need for an awful post move. Dwight was just going to dunk it. There were times Dwight would get the ball at close to the 3pt line because no one knew when/how to deliver Dwight the ball. It was up to him to make something happen 15 feet from the basket. Those were the type of touches being counted. That is not a quality possession for him. I can understand him being frustrated with that. Again, I think there are enough possessions in a game to appease someone as silly as Dwight to reap the benefits.

Dwight knows how to cheat to make the box score look pretty. For years he has cheated defensively to get defensive rebounds. He wouldn’t cover a cutter to the basket or switch. He isn’t stupid, just very undisciplined. His current coach worked with Dwight in the past and knows his personality well. He still isn’t playing as well as his numbers look but they have got him to run some P&R.
It was a catch 22. If he gets down there with his defender pinned, all they'll do is just bear hug him and force him to shoot fts. Not only did result in 2 bricks. It slowed the offense up & messed up our rhythm
