The trade was always a steal for the Texans, but it looks like it's getting even more one sided.

The Seahawks also just lost Richard Sherman for the year with a torn Achilles.

I mentioned injury as a risk for DB coming back this late in the season and not having been in football condition, however, it sounds like he got rolled up on, so that probably wasn't a factor.

when brown tore his quad, the organization took him back and believed in him. That happens to any other fatty or a running back on the wrong side of 30, they're usually cut.

The guy is gone, his season and the Texans season are going down the drain. Looks even to me. This organization needs to get it together going forward because the Oline is putrid and they have a star QB to protect.

The trade was the right call. Not because Brown sucks now (he doesn't) or that he got hurt (he'll sit a week of practice and probably play), it was the right call because the Texans need picks to build around their new franchise QB, not declining stars on enormous contracts.

Well the OL will likely get a complete overhaul with 3 starters (XSF, Clark, Breno) being UFA this summer along with Mancz.

Will be an interesting feat, considering the putrid OT free agent 2018 class and no picks in top two rounds.

I think Watson will be running for his life until 2019, at least.

    Yep,

    Smith really screwed the pooch.

I will be 2-3 years before a competent OL is formed.

Hopefully Watson can survive, and stay reasonably healthy. So far Watson isn't off to a good start in that regard.

It won't take 2-3 years. You have mancz, Martin, and Davenport. You sign a couple of Free Agents and you draft a couple of linemen.

Probably wouldn't be the most popular idea but I'd resign Mancz to start at Center and move Martin to Guard. Mancz filled in nicely the year before and Martin would provide a ton of help next to a rookie OT should we go that route. Or go all out for Solder and force Belichick to match.

If we get a 3rd round compensatory pick for Bouye, three 3rd rounders along with the extra 2nd in 2019 at least gives us some ammo to move up if someone is available. Don't think Rick can sit around and hope talent falls that far.

Yeah, that wouldn't be very popular. Martin is the franchise center and he's the best O lineman on the team. Mancz did alright, but you don't play your best O linemen out of position in order to downgrade the center spot.

Mancz may or may not be back in FA, depends on how good, or fast Davenport can play the starting OT role. FA OL are awful this offseason. Drafted 3rd/4th rd picks don't usually make an immediate impact, if at all and it usually takes 2-3 yrs for an OL to become a cohesive unit if Smith can find the OL talent, which is hasn't shown the ability to do.

    But lets hope you're right.
