With still Mchale coaching and Joey Dorsey back on the team, we should be at the top of that list.

Well you need great players to win the big one. Look at pop, as awesome as he is, he has the best player of era between MJ and Lebron

Phil Jackson - MJ Scottie, then Kobe and Shaq, then Kobe Gasol, and sometimes bynum.

If the measure of a coach is to win Championships with a superstar then Larry Brown is the GOAT coach.

What significant free agent has he gotten since he's been in LA that constitute as a ring chaser? Which leads to my next question: If he's such a great recruiter then why haven't he been able to get free agents to come?

True. But I would also prefer to lavish that money on a lot of other candidates first before turning to Rivers if the Rockets had budgeted that amount of money on the coach.

Doc Rivers is an over-rated coach but for some reason he is respected around the league and players actually want to play for him. He has fooled his way into a top contract.

If he's still President of Player Operations, the contract is pretty fair if you ask me.

    Otherwise, highly overpaid.

First of all, the coaches salary does not count against the cap so why would any Clipper fan care about how much Ballmer pays Rivers...especially since it's literally the equivalent to the average American paying their gardener $500 per year.

Even though the Clippers only made the second round last year, Rivers did do some good coaching last season in a sort of break the horses down and bring them back standpoint.

First, he told Deandre Jordan that he is responsible for the defense. They weren't going to run any plays to him on offense, but he is the anchor and captain of the defense. This gave him some responsibility that he can be proud of and really inspired him to put out 110% in the majority of the games. This led Deandre to lead the NBA in rebounds, finish third in NBA in blocks, and first in field goal percentage. I'm surprised there isn't more Deandre pride on this site since he's from Houston, but the categories where he led the NBA are the most important for the center position and make him an overlooked candidate for best center in the NBA. If he has another year like last year under his belt, Rivers deserves some credit.

Next, Rivers spoke to CP3 and told him he has not accomplished anything in his career. Yeah, if Vinny Del Negro made that statement, CP3 would get him fired, but Rivers has the clout to get respect from almost every player in the league (especially African American players). This statement put the notion in CP3's head that he needs to trust his teammates and not try to take over in crunchtime like he has done in the past. CP3's best strengths are his ability to make his teammates better and he needed to remember that when the 4th quarter rolled around. CP3 is going to the basketball hall of fame not due to his offensive scoring ability in crunchtime, but because of his ability to improve his teammates in crunchtime. He probably has the best assist to turnover ratio of all time and coupled with the number of steals he produces, he might be the best +/- player of all time. He needs to remember that this is his strength and not scoring down the stretch.

Finally, Doc Rivers reminded Blake Griffin that he is the final player announced when they do the starting five before the home games. Yes, he is the man and not CP3. In the previous season, Griffin always was tentative and followed CP3's lead. After Rivers got there last year, Griffin was given a shot of confidence and he was not tentative. He often called for the ball as opposed to wait for CP3 to get it to him. We will see how season 2 under Rivers goes, but I tend to think Griffin is on an exponential growth pattern for the next few seasons.

Even though Rivers only has 1 championship ring, he is an excellent team builder and motivator and Ballmer recognizes this.

They should "free him" of "Head Coach of the Los Angeles Clippers" next.

Austin Rivers is set for life after daddy gave him that 35M contract. He should have been playing oversea for TsingTao Beers right now.

Big baby was right, his daddy gave him all the money. Lucky b*stard.
