You can buy the subscriptions on an actual card that includes a code or you can just get a code. The physical cards are easier to give as gifts and can sometimes be found a little cheaper than just getting the codes. In this case, the deal is on the digital/code only version. It's a decent deal for live. Some people are not fans of the pay nature of the service, but it is what it is.
