I imagine his AAV is going to be enormous. JV is getting 33 mill, but Cole will probably get slightly more. I bet he gets a 5-7 years at around 35 million per. The Astros should absolutely try to resign him but I’d rather see a 4-5 year deal than 7 years.

Cole with 300ks.....Verlander needs 17 strikeouts in 2 more starts to be the first team in MLB to have two pitchers with 300 Ks in the same year.

I'm sure Schilling fainted due to "blood" loss from his ankle or from mouthbreathing so much hot air that he was oxygen deprived.

    The SI article is great.

    "What about Greinke?"

Reading that it was pretty much Crane who wanted this trade badly and didn't care about the money, that's exciting news.

    Link to article in tweet.

Due to their numbers being almost identical and those numbers being the two best in the league, Co-Winners should be the only option. It shouldn’t matter if one guy finishes ahead in the vote. They both should be deemed winner.

How good friends are they? If they are, couldn't they just accept the award together and claim co-CYA at the ceremony instead of the media forcing their hand?

Two things I thought were fascinating in that article - one believable, one making me think they just made it up.

    1. Are we really to believe that Luhnow had narrowed down his list of possible worthy pitching acquisitions to Greinke, but as of 24 hours before the deadline, hadn't approached Crane to discuss viability? This article makes it sound like they had dismissed it as a possibility until Crane showed up in their office.

    2. The whole idea of Luhnow taking advantage of other GMs here gets blown up - Arizona made the initial offer and held firm and got everything they wanted. It was Luhnow that kept upping the offer. It goes against the idea that the Astros swindle everyone and other GMs would be wary of negotiating with the them.

By the way, Co-MVP sucks, I hated it when McNair was co-mvp. No fun. He won it that year hands down.

    No.

Barring a borderline miracle, the only way it happens is if an equal number of the 30 voters pick them 1-2, and then another equal number vote them 1-2 in reverse, which would most likely take an agreement among the voters.

If anyone votes anyone but them 1-2 they should have their credentials taken away.

Perhaps enough public outcry would force the voter's hand. I mean, THIS is the time for two winners. Their numbers are virtually the same.
