Pay the man. Gregg Marshall of Wichita State makes just north of $3M; need to give Sampson around that much. He deserves it.

As an alumnus i want him to stay but i have a hard time beliving an nba team would offer him a head coaching job.

He's an older guy that wouldnt do much for a fanbase. I mean a team that has sucked for as long as the magic would be looking for brad stevens not a guy like sampson, i would think.

Maybe just an agent trying to get him a better deal?

It would be a great opportunity for Sampson, at the same time a huge blow to the UH cougars basketball.

Him coaching the Cougars has been so much fun to watch again.

the brad stevens aren't exactly walking around everyday on the street. older/younger guy wouldnt matter as far as fanbase. if you win the fanbase comes along with it

sampson is a very good coach who has adapted to how the game has evolved. he'd be a good coach for a young team looking to build back towards winning. exactly what he did for UH and hopeful for years to come.

Rigt but the magic aint winning anytime soon
Youre better taking a shot with a up and coming assistant than a 62 yr old college coach

youre basing it all on age not sure why. i guess you haven't noticed how many bad coaches the league has and theyre not exactly old

I guess i just dont see it.

He's a good coach but pulling him from the college ranks now seems odd. He was in the league for a while and i dont remember him ever getting attention as a possible head coach. What has change since? I would think he'd get more attention from other college basketball programs looking to rebuild.

Would suck if he does leave but were in a better spot now thanks to him so cant even be mad.

    Well yea
I'm not too sure how many 62 year old rookie head coaches there has been in league history.

ah ok. was not aware he did get some interviews in the past.

Seems odd. Only thing that has changed since his commitment is the Sampson coaching rumors. I wonder if this lends credibility to those?

Rumors that Mike Davis may be leaving TSU soon and that son may end up with him somewhere. Supposedly has nothing to do with Sampson.

Its fishy that he is visiting Auburn first and they were one of the first schools involved in the FBI probe.
