@Deuce and @Vivi may have figured things out. Post #308 and #310

    Starters: CP3/ Harden/ Big Star?___/ Capela?
Big 2 off the Bench: Eric Gordon/ ?____?

    Hood = Rodney Hood
    AJ = Amir Johnson
    Love = Kevin Love
JG = Jerami Grant (I don’t believe it’s Jerian Grant)
    DJ cheap = DeAndre Jordan
    Abel = Elfrid Payton

    Grizz JG = Jamychal Green
LAC fire sale = Tobias Harris

Your interpretation as to “Big Star” as starter: Capela in or out? D Jordan in (cheap?). Kevin Love (trade)?
Tobias Harris (trade) as last resort?

    and/or

    “Big 2” off the bench.

Don’t know if I’d call that a Big 6 but it’s not a bad plan

Well the Rockets have x-amount of money planned or allocated towards LeBron max which sits at around $36 mil. Possible SnT scenarios thought out.

So the plan B might be another player at power forward that might be considered a Star.

My guess is Melo wants to be with CP3/Harden/Ariza/scheme and Morey would sign him in a heartbeat if no LeBron.

Big 3-4 might be CP3/Harden/Melo/Capela (with Ariza if Luc MaM does not re-sign).
or CP3/Harden/Melo/DJordan-cheap (with Ariza or Luc).

Some here don’t want Melo....but he sold me this last game that the Rockets faced the Thunder. Melo played right
and dominated by scoring an efficient 17 pts in the first half. At half time the Thunder told Melo he wasn’t
allowed to overshadow Westbrook. Know your role.

Melo would definitely be an upgrade at power forward over Ryan Anderson and Tucker in my opinion.

My question is bench. Codman mentioned EGo is like Big 2 off the bench. Does that mean EGo
being replaced by someone good like Eric Gordon who plays the 2 (SG) or someone joining Gordon
    for “Big 2.”

    A team built like:
    CP3/ Harden/ Luc MaM/ Melo/ Capela (starting)
    Harden/ EGo/ Ariza/ Tucker/ Amir Johnson (bench)

    with Nene/ Qi/ Hartenstein/ Gerald Green/ rookie PG/SG. Couple of 2-way contracts. Ryan Anderson??

That’s a team that could win many games.

Who knows how it will end up

Melo numbers vs the team he wants to impress. Matter of walking away from money in OKC like D12
did from Lakers. Texas no state tax comes in to play.

@Codman Any chance that JJ Reddick would sign with us for cheap this summer?

If we can find another 6 GGreens, that be Big 10.

Interesting on how it turns out with wings.

Tucker is under contract for next season.
Ariza is a free agent. As Codman notes, players want to play with Ariza as teammate. He helped recruit CP3/Luc.
Luc MaM is a free agent.
Gerald Green is a free agent.

Who gets the MLE and who gets a BLE contract?
    Star gets a contract.
Amir Johnson gets MLE.....? Amir makes $11 mil this year with 76ers.
    Luc gets BLE.....?
Ariza and Green sign lesser deals......?

Is Luc the odd man out? Interesting 6’7” players will be available in the 2nd round for the Rockets.
Cheap entry level-on the job training.

It blows my mind that people still want Carmelo Anthony. Truly, wow. Does anyone actually regularly watch the Thunder? Jesus.

I saw him against Houston each game.
    Melo
    21.7 pts/ game, 52.3% (FG%), 45.0% (3P%), 62.5% (eFG%), 5 rbs, +4 (+/-)

    Tucker averages for season are:
    6.1 pts/ game, 39.0% (FG%), 37.1% (3P%), 52.0% (eFG%), 5.6 rbs,

    Tucker (season) 71.7% (FT%)
    Melo (season) 76.7% (FT%)

    Tucker (season) 5.6 rbs
Melo (season) 5.8 rbs (under orders that Westbrook gets all rebounds so Westbrook gets triple double)

I don’t think LeBron comes to Houston, PG13 goes to Lakers (no way he comes to Houston), Aaron Gordon
is a RFA and probably re-signs with Orlando, .......so who else? Jerami Grant? Yeah ok. But not as starter.

I wanted Ilyasova at PF to finish this season, people gave me grief. Did you see him in game one vs Heat
last night? The guy was killing it. He was a 110 DRtg with Atlanta but 104 DRtg while with the 76ers this
season. People can change as settings change.

The BLE was used on Tarik Black last year so is not available this summer. My guess is Mbah A Moute gets the MLE (and a small part of that MLE is used to sign our 2nd round pick long term - like the Rockets did with PJ Tucker and Zhou Qi). And Gerald Green signs again for vet minimum "home town discount." I am guessing Brandan Wright also signs for vet minimum.

I think "vet minimum" is really all the Rockets will have for these fringe bench guys. Same way GSW got guys like West and Casspi.

I could see Melo coming to Houston "after a BUY OUT" in OKC and sign for the vet minimum. BUT, on this team, I think Melo would have to come off the bench. (so your "BIG 2" off the bench would be Gordon and Melo). What PJ is doing for the team now is too important defensively. The question is, is Melo at the right stage mentally where he would be ok with that. This is key. He has to accept that role ala Dwyane Wade.

Melo had his chance to come here to be a starter. He caved, got sent to OKC and now PJ Tucker has firmed up his PF starter position.

I agree with you on Melo. Except he has the ETO in his contract for next season. So he can become a free agent
this summer. I see him as starter if he comes to Hoiston. Melo is by far the better offensive player over Tucker.
Both in play types and 3-pt shooting. The Tucker defense can’t guard Melo one on one. He had 17 pts by
half time the last time they played. Team has to provide help defense whether it’s Tucker or Melo starting.

Sometimes a good offense creates better defensive numbers. Could the Rockets 116 ORtg get better
next year with Melo starting? More baskets made equates to more opposing teams taking the ball out
of bounds......facing more set Rockets defense.

Melo provides a Post Up game that the Rockets don’t currently have (Sorry Joe Johnson).
Cutters like Gerald Green could flourish even more with that play type.

    Other PF’s in free agency:
of course Paul George is a SF and I believe he wants to stay SF in Laker land.
    Durant is listed as SF.
LeBron (topic is plan if LeBron does not come our way)
    Aaron Gordon
    Melo (ETO)

Then you are dealing with Thad Young, Beasley, Ilyasova, Jerami Grant, Jabari Parker, Randle, Kyle Anderson,
Jeff Green, Rudy Gay, Ed Davis.

So the talent is far a few between basically.

I do not see Melo giving up the 26M he is owed. He will pick that up....and then force his way out. Business.
