Seems like a bunch of strawmen and a lot of talking without saying much honestly.

I mean you would hope your own players say nice things to the guy who signs their checks. Where is all the legitimate interest in joining a "contender" ??? .. for all the rumors about players linked to the team only Fareid came onboard. Half those guys got paid well to be here, the others were desperate for a job or had no choice in a trade. Where are all these vet discounts to come play here because we are ''so close" ... Morris could have played a larger role on this team IMO than in OKC but he felt that the Thunder were a better fit, or had a better chance to win who knows. Its disheartening to see guys like Matthews and Morris who could have helped immediately latch on elsewhere.

Buyout guys want playing time now and want money in July.
free agents want big contracts, team is not important.
    overpaid contract > team

bold statement: Tilman is not going to overpay any free agents next 3 years.

I believe people are extra frustrated with the front office because Harden is playing out of his mind and it feels like his talent is being squandered away. Make no mistake, Harden is a once in a generation type of player. The last one we had like that was Dream. You have to go all in when you get an opportunity. Save luxury tax dollars when your best player is Kevin Martin or a broke back Tmac or chalk feet Yao.

When you have James Harden in his prime, that is not the time to worry about the damn luxury tax. That's why I'm frustrated and I suspect others are as well.

Yes, there is one Harden in every 25 years. Morey is "son" of Tilman.
Next championship is 2045. Look at Suns and Bulls rebuilding process after MJ and Chuck.

What does "all in" even mean?
    Grab Melo?
    Go for Butler?
    Re-sign Ariza? Wow.
Danuel House? Shoot for the moon!
    Markieff Morris? "The Difference Maker"

What is the "all in" that Fertitta failed to do?

When the Post Oak Hotel was hiring a strategist for the hotel, Tillman tried to stiff that position on salary too - offering no more than $110,000 + 25% bonus. If he wanted someone better, he needed to offer at least $150,000 + 50% bonus.

This kind of tells me how he is trying to manage the Rockets as well. He is trying to manage the team like he manages his other businesses. His MO is to try to maximize his profit margin as much as possible, spending as little as possible to make it serviceable in order to get the greatest return. Without regard to quality.

Yea I don't see where Tilman failed. We went all in for several players and just struck out. So if the option is to pay the luxury tax, or trade James Ennis, the latter isn't that bad a move, since this year isn't going as planned.

That being said, if we get House, we have a strong 9 man rotation that can make a deep run.

It's the nature of our culture and environment nowadays--people wanting more and more instant gratification without knowing, understanding or caring about what it takes to achieve said gratification. Most don't want to spend the time to process the events that occurred and will latch on to whatever the quickest/easiest opinion gets posted.

There are people here who wants to criticize Tilman based on however he runs his other businesses and don't want to give the guy a chance in his second year of owning the team. Unfortunately those same people pine for Les Alexander to come back, somehow forgetting that he was far from a perfect owner and inherited (not built) a championship level team when he bought the Rockets back in the 90s.

There were two smart decisions Les made during his tenure as owner: 1. hiring Daryl Morey as GM and 2. Selling the team when the timing was right for an ungodly sum of money.

    Great post.

Experience really puts things in perspective.

Anyone who survived the Barkley-Jazz years, then the Francis years, then the Mac years, and Kevin Martin years should be able to be a little less frantic about what's going on right now.

Winning in sports is TOUGH. Losing hurts. The most hurt I've ever been in sports (that I can remember) was the Rockets-Mavs game 7 loss. That stung for years. I was mad for months after the Chris Paul injury and officiating last May.

I'm not saying that won't happen this year, and that I won't be on here complaining in the offseason.

The difference is I don't see the point in PREDICTING failure and spamming that everywhere. Where's the value in that? We're mid-season, let's discuss the last loss, not the future ones.

My sin is that I tend to forget that there are members/posters that came on board when Harden became a Rocket so their fandom started recently and they really haven't experienced maddeningly mediocre or drama-filled teams other than that uneventful Dwightmare season. Outside of that season, Harden's Rockets teams have been pretty successful so that's all the new fans can relate to.

I don't think that's true for all of these guys though - Carl Herrera comes to mind. J.R. has been unusually negative recently. There are plenty more but the point is that there are veteran members always trying to incite rage.

I'm not even saying they're wrong, I just don't get the point of spamming predictions of the future of Tillman every day, after every micro move.

Sometimes it's funny, sometimes it's cathartic. But every day? It gets old.

The Lakers don't seem to have the Paul Georges and Kawhi Leonards of the world they assumed would want to come play with them banging on their door this year.
