this is the game that will get us into the finals. james needs to start beef on-court w/ g-anus. as cummissionwhore of nba entertainment, inc, silver's interest will be piqued no doubt. good vs evil. hero vs villain. deers & zebras vs the bearded gladiator. the viewing public would look forward w/ great anticipation. silver's $$$$$$$$$ would be on his mind till october salivating about his mind on his $$$$$$$$$. this is the game that gets us the nod and permission slip to beat LA

Very much looking forward to the ref show of Giannis getting 30 free throws and Twitter journalists saying it's "hard earned fouls".

Focus on the defensive end. Throw Luc in there and double Giannis whenever possible. We need Hargod in 4th to bring it home. Rox will watch tape of yesterday's game and make defensive adjustments. I feel good about this game. 121-117 Rox

No need to double Giannis, need to zone defend him in half court and be physical with him in transition.

Must not let him get head of steam, put body on him at all times.

Raptors are genius at doing this. Switch everything is unnecessary vs. Bucks.

Bucks are a very bad matchup. Giannis is the kind of player small ball has no answer to.

If we go small, prepare to get pummelled. Wish Harden would just show up once and not get punked by Bledsoe.

    Disagree.

Defense has nothing to do with small ball, or skill ball as Mike calls it.

But I do believe the defense on Giannis should not be switch everything.

Rockets need to use more of a zone and physically pound Giannis every second he is on floor.

Have a body on him at all times, especially in transition.

Rockets need to have Russ (Rivers, Demarre) lean on Giannis as soon as he grabs defensive rebound to slow him in open court allowing Rockets bug to form wall in paint.

MDA needs to rotate in as many bodies for the wall, including Tyson, Bruno, Luc, Demarre.

Switch everything is what Bucks hope to see.

MDA needs to use what has worked. No need to reinvent the wheel.

Milwaukee is an extremely well coached team. Without Giannis, they play Rocketball essentially. Ball movement and tons of threes from players who can shoot them. A ton of long rangy 3-and-D types, and bigs with range as well. They would win 50-55 games in the East with no Giannis.

With Giannis, they are a juggernaut. He's one of the hardest guys in the NBA to guard one-on-one, but that's also because the officials have decided to allow that to be the case. It was the same way with Shaq. It's bully-ball for sure, and ugly if you are an opposing fan. He just pummels his way to the hoop, initiates all the contact, and relies on a favorable whistle to garner lots of FT's and alter defenders' behaviors once they realize they will foul out if they keep trying to maintain their ground. It's all very confusing and amounts to a gaslighting of NBA defenses when there are 10 charge-or-block calls a game that the officials get to use to craft out the direction the game will go. The counterargument to the idea the Giannis-ball is unwatchable is his emerging outside shot. Last year he had a better argument I feel, because he had a better shot. Now he's just refined his game to the most effective thing that works, which is the unwatchable barreling over of opponents on his way to the rim. It's what would happen if Bane played basketball, or if we took Westbrook and put him in a cryochamber full of HGH, or if we gave prime Shaq a Marvel studios nutrition team as well as a gastric bypass. It's not in any way skillful, and I hope it fails.

Refs do tend to swallow their whistles in the playoffs. If Giannis cannot win it all this year, he should receive the same criticism that Harden's gotten all these years, that his style doesn't translate to the playoffs. Unlike with Harden, with him it would be a valid one.
