I don't understand why people that have everything they could want (at least materially/financially) just want to keep throwing it all away to end up in prison.

Because they're not any different than the average person when it comes to dealing with life's issues. Money just makes some things easier and some things worse...you can still be good, bad, lazy, obsessive, and so on..
I would say Chris Brown is very different based on what he did to Rihanna's face. The guy is a dirt bag wannabe thug. Hopefully this incident stings him a bit harder than the probation and community service he got for tuning her up.

He obviously has anger management issues. It was said when the Rhianna thing happened that he grew up in a house where his mom was abused and sadly it looks like he is doing the same thing.
He isn't allowed to own guns as he is a felon. Even a misdemeanor domestic violence conviction makes it illegal to own guns and ammo.

If he is charged with ADW the gun will be a minor concern. If these hypothetical body guards corroborate that they allowed their weapons to be in his possession, that is a federal crime. If they say they did not know, he is on the hook. They searched his house and probably found everything. I would guess he is hosed again. You cannot have a gun around your house in a bag and claim you don't possess it. Hopefully he gets a real sentence this time.
