It's absolutely a Christmas movie. The soundtrack is full of Christmas music. Get outta here ya Commie! I watch Lethal Weapon leading up to every Christmas to get me in the spirit.
Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Iron Man 3 (you think Shane Black likes writing Christmas movies?), Gremlins ... all are Christmas movies.
Heck, I not only think of Trading Places as a Christmas movie (and what a gift Jamie Lee Curtis is as a hooker with a good heart and possibly, at that moment, the finest pair of boobs in history), as well as Die Hard, but also view Bill Murray's classic, Groundhog Day, as a Christmas flick. Cheers!
I'm not sure my overall feelings of Die Hard as a Christmas movie, but ever since my wife finally got me to sit down and watch It's a Wonderful Life I've been arguing with her that it isn't a Christmas movie. The entire freaking movie takes place outside of Christmas, with Christmas itself playing almost no roll except at the end. None of the true conflict or resolution has anything to do with Christmas. I don't get why this movie is considered a Christmas classic.
Oh it's a Christmas movie, especially since my wife watches all the other Christmas ones... I will gladly sneak in Die Hard and Lethal Weapon
I just saw this with my nephew this weekend. It's definitely a xmas movie. I find it funny that to his generation Alan Rickman will always be Severus Snape and to anyone born pre mid 80s Rickman will always be Hans Gruber.
So, the movie came out during the Summer. If it's a Christmas movie, why not release it during the holidays? Anyone remember the tv spot?
Are we differentiating between movies *happening during Xmas* and movies *being about Xmas*? Die Hard is one of the former, A Christmas Story is the latter.
Die Hard is about a man doing everything in his power to reunite with his separate wife and kids so they can spend Christmas together. Christmas movies can't be about reuniting families during Christmas.
Well, it's kinda hard to reunite with family when you're stuck in a building with German Terrorist, don't you think?
