Glad to hear Dr. Murray had a positive influence on your life. I grew up down the street from him and have been friends with his sons for most of my life. He's someone who I've admired for a long time and one reason why to this day I have a hard time referring to him as anything but Dr. Murray.

Paradise, California almost completely burned last night - these fires almost seem explosive like they are being started with napalm.

My manager had two cousins who just lost their homes in Paradise. Some people had 20 minutes to evacuate.

It's insane I heard 10,000+ structures are destroyed in this one city - these fires just started and at least 200,000 have already evacuated.

I doesn't seem bizarre to me. These California fires always seem get out of hand.

Paradise is surrounded by (and inundated by) a pine forest. I'm sure there are beds of dry pine needles to explode in flames everywhere.

Pine trees without any rain might as well be kerosene once you've got wind and a spark. :(

The air all over the Bay Area is just oppressive, like being in the middle of a poorly run campfire. Ick.

It's not bizarre that this fire became the most destructive in California history in less than a day?

These fire outbreaks need rated and called storms - this one is an F5.

I just set a timer on my iPhone. Even Siri sounded somber and depressed.

This is where it sucks to be wealthy. All your cool stuff down in flames. insured yes. But gone.

This video is some of the most terrifying footage I’ve ever seen.

The lady survived, but I have no idea how.

Very tragic this thread is revived a year later. I've heard the death toll is up to 23 now.
