Playing for Sacramento sets players back about two years. If I did the math correctly, he's still two years away.
Having a locker room guy like Nene who can bond w him over their heritage and shared experiences might be the key to getting this kid in tune. If he can just shoot threes at a good clip and play d, he’d be a younger and much more talented version of Ariza...
I like the talent, would be nice if this turns into another Hasan Whiteside, Gerald Green, or Jeremy Lin (minus the injury history) type story...
On the second video, one guy seems to think he's more of a stretch 4 bc he thinks Bruno lacks the mobility to be a 3.
So, if Bruno has a break-out year, what kind of contract would the Rockets be able to offer him? Is there a limit, due to his 1 year contract?
He looks like a backup 4 in a SF's body. 3 plus shotblocking. Anything else is a plus point. Has good role player potential.
Frankly the only thing giving me hope that he might change his trajectory is the presence of Nene - and it's not only because Nene is Brazilian, but because Nene seems to be a very disciplined character and has been through the kind of life-altering mental stress that could be highly informative to Caboclo. He is lucky that his physical qualities are very in line with what the NBA and the Rockets need.
It would have to be a helluva breakout for us to worry about this. If it's even forward progress I'd imagine we could dip into some MLE money, but even the full veterans minimum for a couple of years would be an improvement. Next off-season is really hard to predict right now.
