Let's wait 3 weeks until real games start and lose all momentum. GENIUS. Tired of the lull.

You can justify it any way you would like. You are still losing out on a $15 million payday

Bowl money is shared by the conference - teams don't get it.

The fact that they are pretty regional universities without national fan bases undoubtedly has driven the price down considerably, but the Boca Raton Bowl is actually one of the best minor bowl games on the slate.

Those are both teams that, at one point this season, harbored very real aspirations of making a New Year's Six bowl.

Vegas has had a very strong Mormon presence since the 50's. They started out with banking and then moved to casinos. I think I read that about 5% of the Vegas valley population identifies as Mormon.

Although it has seemed to become one of the most often-named bowls when pundits and fans make fun of how many bowls there are, the New Mexico Bowl (which takes place today) has actually become one of the better small bowl games.

The local community seems to support that game, which goes a long way toward making even a small bowl game feel like an "event," and it has mostly had really entertaining games in its history.

    A sampling:

    2008- Colorado State 40 - 35 Fresno State
    2009- Wyoming 35 - 28 Fresno State (2 OT)
    2012- Arizona 49 - 48 Nevada
    2013- Colorado State 48 - 45 Washington State

This one should be fun as well. Arizona is more talented than their record would lead you to believe and UNM being in the game means that the crowd should be relatively lively.

Even though I made a case for the New Mexico Bowl in my prior posts, the Holy War Las Vegas Bowl is far and away the best game on the slate today. Because of the rivalry, it was going to be pretty good to begin with, but based on what I've seen in posts from various college football folks on Twitter, the two sides have been VERY chippy with one another in the lead-up this week.

    One sided war.

Redshirts all over the bluejackets. :p

And as I type, another turnover for BYU, their 5th.

    5 possessions. 5 turnovers. 5 touchdowns (2 pick-sixes). Still the 1st quarter. What a disaster

    Good job, good effort BYU.

Too little, too late. Try not to dig a 35-0 hole. :p

No kidding. Up 24-7 going into the 4th quarter and they just lost on a last-second field goal by Appalachian State.

Scott Satterfield, the App. State head coach, is going to be in the mix for some bigger jobs come next year's coaching carousel. Quietly, he led them to an 11-2 record this season. We so often see teams struggle with the FCS-to-FBS transition, and they basically knocked it out of the park.

Pretty good one going on right now.

Western Kentucky and USF are basically going back and forth throwing haymakers at this point.
