So no prominent FA meeting on Sunday? McGee and Looney, really? The latter won’t come here unless he’s promises to start and then it’s still a maybe. So which scraps at the bottom of the barrel will we pick up since good FAs are likely to sign elsewhere?
Haha it’s all good. I don’t mind if the first signing is at the minimum, likely McGee or Green, but why not meet with Seth Curry, Aminu, Redick, Lopez? Danny Green even or Thad Young. Seems to be too much focus on Butler to be honest.
Exactly! A stay in your lane, add depth while aiming for the solid veterans type of GM would be nice.
I don't think we can use the MLe until we know the deal with butler. with butler we use the TMLE, without we can use the NTMLE and BAE. so no one here should be surprised that on day 1, without knowing what butler is going to do, we aren't committing to using either MLE. all we know is we are looking for centers at all tiers (NTMLE, TMLE (looney), BAE (McGee), and vet minimum). keeping our options opened for whatever butler decides to do. either way it looks like capela is traded with or without butler since we are so focused on centers.
That’s the problem, players aren’t going to wait around that long. Each year we see players getting signed as we focus on a star or certain player. There are so many great free agents out there to be had with 9 million, but you need to convince them and lay out some type of carpet. I hope Capela is traded.
Probably just a difference in opinion. Moving the necessary pieces to acquire those guys and missing out on a star. Vs giving your best shot to land a star which could significantly improve your team. Personally I like Daryl's approach vs yours. Signing or trading for those guys may preclude you from getting butler who obviously has interest in coming here. Signing or trading for those guys doesn't make this team good enough to win a ring imo. Butler I think has much more potential to be a major piece in getting us over the hump. Again, I prefer Daryl's strategy. Players like the ones you mentioned are nice complimentary players but go after the big fish first then settle for the smaller ones when the bigger ones aren't biting. Especially since you don't have a lot to lose anyways.
