Yup and we still have RAC on the other side of the ball. I was excited about the Smith hire and disappointed that BoB only gave him one year with DW4.

I have no doubt that Kelly and Weaver will lean on these guys for ideas and developing game plans. But at the end of the day, it will be their calls against Reid, Roman, Spagnulo, etc...week in week out.

I also don't really have high hopes for this, but Kelly's sole playcalling experience was one of the very few times where they had a first quarter TD (but it was preseason).

It doesn't take a genius to dial back runs up the middle, it just takes an OC who isn't a stubborn a-hole. It doesn't take a genius to remove the Hopkins-at-QB gimmick play, it just takes an OC who doesn't think he's the smartest stubborn a-hole in the room.

Even cutting back the HB dives by 10%, or one a game, would be a readily achievable goal by any non-BOB OC that would make them a tiny bit less predictable.

Also, TJ Yates was the first taste of O'Brien's system that Watson experience (pre-draft sessions). So, Deshaun is comfortable with him.

Carl Smith and TJ Yates were both on the staff last year, right?

There aint gonna be any QB whispering with Watson.

He hasn't learned in 3yrs and it's not going to happen next year In fact I would say he's regressed in the last three years. DC's have figured him out.

    Hmmm.

Let's trade Watson for Joe Burrow! (A suggestion on TexansTalk).:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::eek:o_O:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

    Edit: Better yet, PJ Walker!!!

    Your Watson hate is strange.

It's really not strange and it's not hate.

We just disagree on how good Watson is and his ceiling.

I respect your opinion and hope you're correct.

Now all he has to do is turn over the HC duties to someone else and we'll be ready.

every time i see this thread from the main forum index i think its gonna be " BoB runing over in his grave" and the context being we got some player who previously had trouble with the law ( or something like that)

Who has he had to whisper?

Mallett/Fitz/Hoyerable/Os. ain't no whispering those guys.

Although Fitz did say he learned more about QB play under BOB than anybody else he has played for and Hoyerable had his best season under BOB.

Ha - BoB set his new OC up to fail. So next year, he can say his playcalling was so much better.

BoB is setting up Tim Kelly to be the scapegoat when next year the Texans are horrible. BoB gets another extension after he convinces Cal that Kelly was the issue.

Bob, in Feb: "Hey Timmy, wanna handle the play calling next year?"
Timmy: "Wow, yeah, thanks so much BoB!"
    BoB: Hah. Muhahaha! WUUUUHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA!!!"

Timmy, in March: "Hey, BoB, what the actual hell? Who am I supposed to call passes to?"
BoB: "All your base are belong to us."

Couldn't even see what it would have been like with Watson and Hopkins with an actual OC calling the shots. big what ifs.
