Big Bob currently under fire: "Cant let the inmates run the prison"

I don't necessarily think you're wrong; but no way he gets the benefit of the doubt because of where we are now in society. And he is not doing much to help his case. Pride and arrogance won't let him.

 

So you are now assuming that Bob McNair is a racist based on......what exactly? The color of his skin?

Not a good look. There's a word for people who judge others based on the color of their skin....

 

To be fair, what benefit of the doubt is he being given? If anything, where our society is now is where the media is bashing him for the Kaepernick thing and his inmates comment. Those are the only things I don't agree with, there literally is an actual idiom about the inmates running the asylum, so one word being misplaced makes him racist? But yes, it was a VERY dumb switch of words given the circumstances behind the protests. 31 other teams told Kaep to eff off, but only the Texans are giving him the cold shoulder because of Bob.

Now the rest of it, I agree with. He apologized then took it back? That's just poor form, he's making it worse. All the protest talk? I guarantee you he is not the only owner that feels this way, but he needs to shut his mouth about it. I do think he's an old rich man stuck in his old ways. I dunno, I just hate hate, no matter which side is hating which.

 

I didn't say he has been given any benefit of the doubt. I said the opposite; no way he gets any because of the world we live in. I do believe he is being made a scapeI don't take those faulting McNair for not signing Kaepernick seriously. If there was history that he really liked CK before the protests, then maybe I would have taken that seriously. I didn't think his initial comments about the inmates were that offensive. I thought Snyder's comments in that report were more egregious. I was even defending him on here when it happened. But his responses after that make me wonder. The backlash can do some good if you look at it big picture. We can't change people's racists beliefs but you can make it very unpopular to reveal or implement them. MacNair might just be a "scapegoat" in this case but he should have known better.
