That area is a very poor area. How do the libertarians feel about this case? Do poor people deserve to die?

Whose fault is it? The company that hasn't been paid for 6 months? The Hospital that can't afford to pay? The people who are too poor to afford a better hospital?

People are going to try to find a scape goat, but it feels to me like its the system here. India does not have universal healthcare.

Yea I posted this in the KD thread...sad sad stuff

I think a lot of the blame here falls on the hospital administration.

Know nothing of India to comment, but wow, so preventable. That's so sad.

One thing for sure is that it's not the oxygen supplier's fault. The company continued to supply the hospital with oxygen despite an outstanding debt and violation of the contract. The oxygen company went past their obligation.

The hospital employees notified the administration that oxygen was running low. The blame lies on the hospital administration for not running the hospital well. The blame could go higher up if there's a reason for the hospital's deficits.

And now the doctor that was staffed that day has been removed, likely as a scapegoat, even though he scrambled to locate more oxygen tanks and paid for some with his own debit card.

Kevin Durant recently apologized for saying that India was "20 years behind" the US.

India is 200 years behind the US.

Seems like incompetent administration that tried to hide the problem rather than admit their shortfall and call an emergency. Can't "fix" that with universal healthcare.

    What a tragedy.

Was the hospital financed by the government?

Hospitals are like a business and if a business is not making any money then they're not able to pay their bills hence why the free market is the best solution for everything business related and socialism is not.

I'm not following your argument for how a free market would have prevented this tragedy.

I didn't say it would have prevented this. If ultra poor need financial assistance then they should be able to get it. What I'm trying to say is a free market system is the best way to go to treat people. You'll get the best health care under a free market healthcare and the worst service under socialism. What happens when the government runs out of money and can't afford to pay everyone's healthcare? You'll get the same result as this tragedy but except, you'll get much more deaths.

it's the supplier's fault ,vendors and suppliers working with governments are prepared for a long wait to get their money which is the standard, this's why they do charge premiums for their services and usually it's instigated in the contract for such events where delays of payments is expected but companies are still liable to provide needed supplies. This company does reminds me of Dräger in particular for their aggressive -sketchy practices ,the hospital could had used industrial grade oxygen as a cheaper /slightly less than perfect alternative, with the risk of personal liability to the outcome

This is so awful that I get angry reading about it.

India has some wonderful people but the corruption and blind eye to poverty is disgusting.

Flint is certainly a craphole but not nearly as big of a disgusting craphole as India. Which is literally a craphole with varying lower and lower categorized values on human life.
