With Leonard still out, Warriors having injuries left and right, Celtics and Cavs dealing with some along with season ending one to Hayward you just know some people will put a asterisk next to the championship if it's anyone other than the Cavs, Celtics & Warriors. With a Western Conference team in particular they will say, let's see with a healthy Warriors team and Kawhi on the Spurs how the Rockets - I don't see anyone else as a contender in the West - will do and people will make arguments they would not have won without that. And you know what? If that happens, we should all accept it and laugh since they've been doing that to our first two titles and we've been crazy injured this year too
There will always be excuses. If any team would have beaten the Bulls in 1992-93 they would have said Jordan was getting tired of playing the game. If anyone would have beaten them in 97-98 they would have said Jordan was too old. Anytime a team of the decade loses in the playoffs there is always an excuse. Just like when the Cavs won (they said only because Green was suspended). But guess what? The Cavs still won and so will the Rockets
Tired of this BS acting like we got the title on lock. We gotta show up and take care of business before we speak like this.
Don't give a damn who's hurt. When you win the championship you're the champs. Save that drama for the first take chuckleheads.
Nobody discredits the Warriors for their first title when literally every last playoff opponent with the exception of New Orleans (who sucked anyways) was missing one or more stars. Memphis: Both Conley AND Gasol went down in this series. Us: Bev & DMo who were huge that year, + Dwight was playing on a partially torn meniscus and MCL Cleveland: Kyrie AND Love If we beat the Warriors without Curry or the Spurs without Kawhi, it doesn't matter. A chip is a chip.
Idgaf...if the Rockets win a championship I will be on cloud 9, not worrying about asterisks from the Skip Bayless and Clown Kellerman’s of the world GS has injuries now, but that doesn’t mean they’re gonna have them during the WCF...the Cavs are only missing a few role players right now, and again, it doesn’t mean they won’t be healthy during the playoffs...the Celtics were never seen as or considered to be a contender
Jrue Holiday played hurt in that New Orleans series and then ended up missing game 4. Curry didn't have to face one starting PG for a whole series that playoff run. Lucky him.
Who gives a toss, the very idea of winning a championship is a season long battle. That doesn't mean you beat everyone at their absolutely prime and injury-free stars in every single game leading up to a potential hotly contested game 7 of the NBA final. The very fact that one can stay healthy enough (not to mention we have our share of injuries throughout the regular season) to get through the entire regular and post season is process of winning the championship itself. Also please don't jinx us, it's 2.5 months to June.
A championship is a championship. Injuries, MJ's love for baseball and rehabilitation are part of the game. Period.
