Have the Redsox been caught cheating in the ALDS and ALCS?

A video uploaded to Twitter by @CodyDaeschner and Joe Reyes shows what the commentator believes is Redsox pitcher, Matt Barnes, cheating in Game 2 of the ALCS.

The commentator points out Barnes grabbing his left forearm after each pitch where a "shiny" substance is located. The commentator suspects pine tar as the substance at the :31 mark.

Second video is Red Sox against Yankees. Same move to arm.

The way he was grabbing his arm over and over after each pitch is way too suspicious. I think some substance is definitely on his arm.

So say it is verified, what is our recourse?

I’ve noticed that rotund ump screws us every chance he gets. Think his name is Joe West.

After watching the video... does anyone know if it's a legal substance? Looks like he is using something shiny. Anything that color that is legal to put on the arm?
I thought pintar was darker...maybe spread thin its lighter.

Wow, that was about as obvious as you can get. Sad, I wonder if Cora was aware.....

How do you figure? What call are you concerned about? I don't think he meant to be drilled by their catcher, preventing an extra base in game 1. There's been plenty of times where Houston teams have been screwed over by refereeing/umpiring. There's been no advantage I've noticed in this series.

I'm ok with it, as long as Astros can do the same.

If the Red Sox are using a substance....... you can rest assured that the Astros are doing the same.

Blummer has openly talked about this with respect to pitchers using pine tar, especially on cold days. Says he would prefer they have full grip instead of potentially slinging one at his head.

Truth to that....key is not to get caught. He is going to have to find another place to put his alleged pin tar....Camera will be all over Barnes now.

What's ironic in all this - because it is obvious they are using something - is they asked in the first game I believe to inspect Maldonado's glove..... if that isn't actions from somebody who is guilty, then I don't know what is...

The Red Sox didn't ask the umps to look at his glove. That was straight from the head umpire.

Red Sox deny requesting Maldonaldo's glove being inspected.

I can't believe I'm joining the olds on this forum, but the only egregious violation here is the Red Sox allegedly asking Joe West to get involved. There's an unwritten rule among managers not to talk about pitchers using pine tar, mainly because their guys do it too (don't ask; don't tell). The Sox are denying they said anything and pointing the finger at Joe West. If that's true, then **** Joe West and let's all move on.

If it is Matt Barnes, I better see Derek Fisher give comment.
