The raising of the Mexican flag is stupid for a million reasons which made me question the context of it before just assuming the most bizarre explanation being told through a right wing media tweet was true that it was the Democratic Party taking the position of handing over the power of the state to a foreign power. Reasons- -The immigrants aren’t from Mexico for the most part. They are from Central America -The US fought Mexico for the independence of states like Texas and is a proud part of our history glorified through the “liberal Hollywood.” -If you recall, the right b****es non stop about the Dem party being obsessed about the right handing over our sovereignty to another foreign power who has been proven to have influenced our elections to benefit your supreme leader Donald Trump. How can the Dem party be blamed for both being too over dramatic about handing over our sovereignty then be blamed for handing over our sovereignty at the same time because some idiot raised a flag somewhere when we have no idea who that person was... the Dems just get the blame for it naturally?? This is just too dumb of a controversy you are trying to help fuel. If you want to make this about the Dems trying to hand over the power of the State to... Mexico... for some reason... then the only thing you are doing is reopening the case against the Republican Party giving our sovereignty away to Russia so their oil and gas lobbyists pumping money in their campaigns can drill in the arctic and help destroy the planet. So let's pretend that raising the Mexican flag is so awful. Why is that bad for Democrats? It wasn't Democratic candidates that did it. They weren't told to do it by Democrats. Why won't it have ramifications for the GOP? They have blocked immigration reform, haven't prioritized the hiring of personnel to clear the backlog of cases, etc. Will this symbolism have bigger ramifications than actual issues like not taking action to secure our elections? That is something a little more tangible to our sovereignty than the symbolic isolated incident of raising a Mexican flag. Those issues are actually directly related to the GOP. The flag issue doesn't seem to be related to the Democrats in any direct way at all. I'm just curious how you assess which actions will and won't have ramifications for who. What criteria do you use?

The problem is somewhat evidence in your explanation. American is a tweety society - symbol they get. Imagery they get. A few paragraph of text, they tune out. It’s a pretty easy message and I have no doubt the GOP and their partners will play this over and over and use it as who is American and who is against it. Doubt it has much of any impact. I believe the nation in general has already made up their mind and motivation on both side is already very high. There isn’t much room for more motivation and there isn’t much of anything that change people mind. This isn’t one that will. Beside that... Inhuman treatment of babies and toddlers by the trump admin vs some stupid person replacing the American flag. Funny what get people motivated and angry.
Completely agree. This “symbol” will be meme worthy on Facebook and blow up all of our feeds for months because that’s our social media political world we live in. But that’s just with the Trump base who have already lost their sanity. Motivation on both sides won’t change much depending upon one or two more misleading Facebook memes. Trumps mob will be there riled up one way or another, and it’s likely those on the left will as well much like 2018. If the Dems run a 2018 tight economic kitchen table issues campaign this next year it will bode well. F it up and play down to Trump and they’ll win the popular vote and lose the rust belt states and the electoral college again who are a more susceptible demographic to racially driven Facebook misinformation outrage memes.
