Jair Bolsonaro and Donald Trump are two of a kind. Bolsonaro of course thinks the fires were staged by his critics to make him look bad. Like Trump, everything is always all about him. Naturally, Trump has a huge dictator man crush on Bolsonaro.
Yeah, invasion a ridiculous thing to say. Instead of all this talk about buying Greenland, How about the entire world collectively buys the Amazon from Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana, for some obscene amount of money to be payed over the next couple hundred years, we make the entire Amazon an ultra protected nature reserve and indigenous peoples territory, we treat it like Antartica where it is governed/protected by multiple nations through a treaty. We can save the Amazon, maybe our planet, and South America by boosting so many countries development & economies, improving the lives of hundreds of millions who are living in poverty. Outlandish idea, but it would be nice, and is perhaps a better one than an "invasion".
It is not ridiculous at all, I am tired of small minded - NOW thinking, we are literally killing humanity with our stupidity - there is no where else to go, this is the only Earth we have. No Rain forest no air......I mean - come on, why should the rest of the countries let themselves die off because of greed and raising cattle in Brazil? At some point, we need the big powers to come together and do what is RIGHT for the planet - so we survive as a species. The lines drawn - are made up - there are not countries or boundaries when we are talking about humanity. DD
There's so much wrong with this post. "Invasion" talk is small-minded NOW thinking. Your suggesting starting world war 3 in South America. You do understand that before Europeans settled in America, we had a forest near the same size as the Amazon right? This is what we did. South America is clearing its forest, to be the world leader in beef exports, to feed US, the people in more developed countries who already destroyed their own land. You want them to stop burning down their tree's? Quit paying for it. You want to do what is right for the planet? Buy the Amazons preservation with your taxes, save South America, they have hundreds of millions in poverty.
This planet is much better off without us, bigly. We just destroy everything in sight without understanding or even caring about the long term consequences of our actions. It's fitting that the leader of the free world thinks climate change is a hoax.
This is not a terrible point. I read a good article that said if Brazil was setting off hydrogen bombs, it woukd be treated as an international security issue. Well guess what, this IS an international security issue. Bolsonaro setting the Amazon aflame (and joking about it...haha!) is way more dangerous than Iran or Kim or whatever
I actually don't think the invasion angle is crazy. At some point it's going to come to that one way or another, but we'll be invading each other for shrinking resources in a dying world... or I should say world moving on without us since it'll just shake us off like fleas.
