Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Ambitious Plan to Save the Planet
Democrats lack a comprehensive strategy to stop global warming. Climate scientists say the newcomer has the beginnings of a good one.
    By Emily Atkin
    July 3, 2018
Leftists have been practically leaping for joy since 28-year-old self-described democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez won her primary election for Congress last week, an outcome that CNN called “the most shocking upset of a rollicking political season.” But perhaps no group has been more excited than environmentalists. In a political environment where even her fellow Democrats often stay vague on climate change, Ocasio-Cortez has been specific and blunt in talking about the global warming crisis. She also has a plan to fight that crisis—one to transition the United States to a 100-percent renewable energy system by 2035.

Exactly this, just like it was ok to have that nutjob Ron Paul around. Diversity of opinion in the House is not at all a bad thing.

America is not ready for going this leftward. Don't be fooled by Bernie, this type of agenda will fail nationally. Either the Democrats or some Independent needs to be the voice of moderates after populist stumble rightwards.

I still fail to see why this 1 candidate for the House is such a big deal. I mean, I do understand *how* she is for the right: Fox News and their internet ilk pushing her as some sort of bellwether and trying (successfully it looks like from this thread) to scare the hell out of their viewers.

Well for now, she's the trending Democrat. Maybe she and some others do form a coalition and build some power. Maybe not.

Especially, since there's no real heartbeat from the Right (unless you are die-hard Trump-est), nor from the Democratic Establishment. They are either retiring, staying low key, giving up their seats, or preparing for a career, outside of politics. This last election kind of f#ck with the heads of both partie.s

The right wants their politicians to be lying ego-maniacs. They can't handle the truth.

Yeah she's remarkably stupid, it's like the DNC saw Trump and thought the lesson was "Stupid sells" so they go out and find the least intelligent person that checks the right boxes when it comes to diversity and are holding her up as the future of their party.....it's really funny, but only due to how miserably this is going to fail. If knuckle dragging r****ds like her actually got in a legitimate position of power it would be frightening given that they fully support the most lethal ideology from the most deadly century in human history. Since it'll remain nothing more than tokenism, it's okay to laugh at.

Well yeah, but that's the UK, I'm perfectly fine with them collapsing their economy becoming a failed state if they feel like it.....I just don't want it to happen here.

That guy's policies aren't the problem, it's the anti-semitism that is the real problem from him.
