No point in grading the draft. Like best u can say about how well a gm did was if he even drafted area of needs. Gotta wait a few years before making a grade, just gotta trust BoB, man with sht record in developing talent to develop talent.

I mean all of 610 is basically hired by the Texans and most of the radio hosts have been bashing the team all offseason

Apples to Oranges. Sponsorship is not employment. Plus theyre sports talk radio. There arent restrictions that can be held over what they say that I can think of.

In defense of Harris he did have both Blacklock and Greenard ranked high on his top 100 list.
RB #21 and JG #72, so we got over value by 19 and 18 slots respectively.

Universally, Blacklock was a top 20-25 ranked player so the value was definitely there. The pick I like the most was Reid. I believe Robertson would’ve been the pick if he was available, but Reid will be the starting nickel corner for years to come

Actually PFF had him #54 on their board, but most places had him in the 20's (of course those guys are mostly sheeple).
Would have been interesting if Robertson was there what Billy boy would have done.
Maybe it's better for my blood pressure that he wasn't.
AR was one of my "binkies"!

Felling Houston down the stretch last season was a putrid pass rush that, at times when J.J. Watt was out, bordered on downright irrelevant. Some see Ross Blacklock as the best pure pass rushing defensive tackle in this draft. He aligned primarily over the center at TCU, both as a 0-tech (directly over the center) and 1-tech (shaded over the center’s shoulder). But elite athleticism—including much-coveted short-area lateral quickness—suggests he can play 3-tech in the NFL. Blacklock’s game is not built on power, so he himself won’t fill the void left by free agent D.J. Reader’s departure, but his presence allows Reader’s in-house replacement, Brandon Dunn, to focus almost solely on the nose position.

Speaking of focusing on a position, one of Jonathan Greenard’s biggest selling points was his ability to focus on many position. Versatility is an attribute the Texans usually put to good use in their interchangeable front seven. Don’t be surprised if Greenard plays multiple positions off the bench in his first couple of seasons.

As for the rest of this draft… Charlie Heck has a good chance to be the swing tackle given the inconsistencies of Roderick Johnson. John Reid and Isaiah Coulter might have trouble making the final roster considering Houston is already deep at cornerback and wide receiver.

    Grade: B-

Brugler: Ranking my favorite NFL Draft classes from 1 to 32

    1. Baltimore Ravens
    2. Dallas Cowboys
    3. Cleveland Browns
    4. Minnesota Vikings
    5. Jacksonville Jaguars
    6. Cincinnati Bengals
    7. Miami Dolphins
    8. Washington Redskins
    9. Denver Broncos
    10. New York Jets
    11. Detroit Lions
    12. Carolina Panthers
    13. Kansas City Chiefs
    14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
    15. New Orleans Saints
    16. Tennessee Titans
    17. Indianapolis Colts
    18. Arizona Cardinals
    19. Las Vegas Raiders
    20. New York Giants
    21. San Francisco 49ers
    22. Chicago Bears
    23. Pittsburgh Steelers
    24. Buffalo Bills
    25. Philadelphia Eagles
    26. Houston Texans

Favorite pick: Ross Blacklock, DT, TCU
Blacklock to Houston in the second round was one of the pairings I liked in my second-round mock draft due to the talent and fit. With his athleticism and violent hands, he can beat blockers in multiple ways and has the versatility to play multiple positions on the Texans’ hybrid front. Despite not having a first-round pick, the Texans did well to land a talent like Blacklock.

Day three pick who could surprise: John Reid, CB, Penn State
One of my favorite day three prospects in this class, Reid is undersized, but he is quick-footed with natural man-cover skills, which fits well in Bill O’Brien’s defense. He can play inside or outside and is like a mosquito at a barbecue for receivers.

    27. Los Angeles Chargers
    28. Green Bay Packers
    29. Seattle Seahawks
    30. New England Patriots
    31. Los Angeles Rams
    32. Atlanta Falcons

I dont think the draft was that bad. This has mostly to do with not liking O'Brien imo.

Interesting comparison, but what will be really interesting is to see the grades in 3yrs. By then you know who's made an impact in some form or fashion.

    F'em

I like Blacklock and Greenard, Would have rather (Greenard pick) traded up for Delpit/Dugger/Chinn/Burgess/Blackmon. Gotta get somebody to cover Kelce/Ravens TE's.

But I like the draft they had and think both Blacklock/Greenard can be big upgrades,

It's kinda ironic that a Texan mouthpiece would gush over the Texans draft. Because the entire premise of the current Texans regime is that the draft doesnt matter. That giving away picks for role players is the right way to build a team.

If he really wants to help BOB should just say these players are projects and take a long time to develop and that fans should focus on the team trades as why they will be successful.
