Do we really need to draft three tight ends in the past two years? No problem with the player or the value, just the volume of tight ends we draft is a little crazy.

We seem to like drafting TE's but we don't seem to like using them.

Great pick-up. LOL at people already blasting Gaine. Give the guy some time! He’s had, what, 1.5 drafts and 2 UFA seasons under his belt—one with absolute trash at our biggest areas of need? Time will certainly tell, but it’s too soon to throw him under the bus. There are problems elsewhere (hint OWNERSHIP), but Gaine deserves time. I like his picks thus far, even if the 1st *seems* like a stretch. Duane felt like a stretch too. Who cares? He likes who he likes. People don’t understand how hard drafting really is. Consider:

His interview is so bad. He seems like Zach Morris and played football for 1 year. Wow.

Pat Starr suggested moving Akins to a true Hback type role and having Warring as your receiving tight end and using Thomas and Fells as blockers. Will be interesting.

We have receiving weapons all around. If the line can form some sort of semblance of being average, and Fuller can stay healthy, I still think we could have a top five offense.

Defense will be a huge question.

Hopefully he'll be more like Zach Thomas.

Let’s be honest, he passes the eye test. That’s a lot of TE’s. Seems like Warring could be the complete package like Fiedorwicz was beginning to look like. Gotta get these guys involved

Another developmental guy with talent who needs coaching (that makes 3 this draft, 4 if you count Scharping's feet)

    You're on the clock, O'Brien.

Too bad we can't pass protect well enough to actually use a TE in the passing game.

I generally think that, as a fan knowing nothing about the deep scouting surrounding a pick, there’s some complaints that you can make that suggest your team is doing something good, and some complaints that are real red flags about where the team’s leadership is at.

    Good complaints:
“Why did we draft this guy?! We had other bigger positions of need to draft into!” Usually this suggests the team is actually going best player available which is a good thing.
“This guy is way too raw.” Usually this suggests the coaching staff knows what it can, and what it cannot coach up.

    Bad complaints:
“Another team just traded in front of us, and we’re still drafting the position that just got scooped up one pick before.” ...yeah. The Texans have been there, done that.

We need a tight end that scares defenses

Good athlete narrative... sounds familiar. James Casey?!:)

Joking aside, hoping he turns out to be a stud.
