Especially in an offense as complex as BOB's is reputed to be.

Other teams have the luxury of drafting a 1st rnd project tackle. I thought the Texans were in a win-now window though? Wouldn't you rather have a guy that can start now? And if none of the draft tackle candidates could conceivably start now, then why did you screw around with recruiting Trent Brown? You certainly had the money to sign him, and he is easily better than who you had, then or now.

Let's be frank: Gaine got the tackle he wanted yoinked out from under him, and he panicked by reaching for Howard. Instead of exercising one of the contingency draft trades his team should have set up ahead of time, and traded back with a team that, e.g., wanted to move up and grab Greedy or Sweat.

I don't see why that is such a difficult thing for Houston sports media to admit on Friday afternoon. They didn't have any problem being skeptical last night.

I think I would spend the off season showing Tytus nothing but Larry Allen highlights.

He's put on 100 lbs since high school ?

    That's a bit concerning .

I didn't think your body responds well to such a rapid change .

    Then again I don't have a 6'5" frame lol

I mean from a joint perspective , I can't imagine it's nice to add all that weight at once . But then again I'm not sure 10 pounds a year for 10 years is any better

Team had to get tackle. He was likely rated 2nd tackle on the board and number 1 went at 22 so that's that. They were not going to try to get 1 spot ahead. The perfect price was 4th and they didn't have one.

And trading back was not option since they figure if they trade back they can lose this one also.

    Trust the process.

    What else can you do?

There is no sure things in a draft so if you want a guy you get him when available.

I think they reached but that doesn't mean he won't be good. Sucks the Eagles stole Dillard.

It feels like we traded down to the 2nd round and got nothing in return. A 2nd rounder can still be a solid starter on this team.

    Hmmm..."The Brandon Brooks of Tackles"

Brooks played 6 games (0 starts) his rookie year and then went on to start every game he's played since.

Offensive lineman are usually about as long-term as they come (when you get a good one).

If it takes one "developmental" year to lead to a solid 10-15 year career, I'm not going to complain about that.

I can see why those are upset that the Texans didn't move up before Philly did, if there was any concern/foresight that Philly was going after Dillard. That being said, I do not support the theory that they should have just traded back and taken him later... that's how you end up losing players you think nobody else wants, just like nobody thought Philly really was serious about going after an OT.

I will say, the Texans seem to be enamored by senior bowl performances... might as well throw out all of the combine, as well as all the CFB games, and make choices based on this game alone. While it seems like its not a large enough sample size, it is the most recent/up-do-date game footage they're going to ever have.
