Some insight on 2017 2nd rounder Joe Perez. During the Ask BA chat on the Astros, I asked what the deal was and they didn't know either, but reported he has further injuries. Stalked on Instagram and Joe mentioned that he had labrum surgery, but now sure when that happened. He came out swinging the bat well and then after a week he went down apparently.

Luhnow is on track to have 3 of his first 4 drafts with Houston yield 9+ big leaguers. That’s pretty incredible. 2017 (with 2 extra picks) and 2020 (likely with 2 extra picks) should also be very strong.
RHP Yoanys Quiala released today. Not surprising as his results were poor and he’d gotten into some trouble, but notable because he was a big bonus signee from Cuba a few years ago.
Who are our under the radar prospects? Any who may jump into our top 10-15 range? What's the MLB comp or expectation for Beer? Is he a true blue chip prospect?
The ceiling comparison would be Paul Goldschmidt: a bat-first, contact and power first baseman. He's definitely not a true blue chip prospect. He was drafted at the end of the first round and didn't particularly impress in his early pro action. He's probably got a bench power bat 50th percentile projection right now. His 10th percentile projection is AJ Reed.
My “breakout” pitcher is Bukauskas I know he is already around top 5 in our system, so breakout might not sound right to some...but I think he is a top 10 overall prospect in the game in 12 months. His stuff is legit Position player wise I’ll go with Jeremy Pena. He has Adam Everett written all over him but seems to be a good contact guy already. A little more pop added to his bat and an elite defensive SS becomes a prospect

McKenna is interesting. If K rate in A ball was just a fluke (swinging strike staying same suggests it may be a fluke), he should have a big jump in prospect status.
The crazy thing is how confident I am that there will be a few arms who no one is talking about right now who will have very high K rates as the season gets going. Luhnow and company have been incredible finding high upside arms, even if they are very high risk also
I really want to see what kind of follow up season Bryan Abreu has. He stumbled through his first 4 seasons, and then put up some absolutely preposterous numbers last season. The front office didn't even risk leaving him exposed to the rule 5 despite him only having a cup of coffee in full season. He seems like a guy that could jump into the top 50 by midseason if he's even close to repeating last year.
