He may not ever be the elite caliber player on the level of Curry but it's ignorant to say they're not comparable players. Young literally models his game after Curry and they share many strengths and weaknesses especially freshman Curry. Mind you Steph stayed in school for three years so ofc he was a more complete player in- and coming out of college.
#1 sleeper imo is Tre Duval. Perhaps his main weakness (albeit a huge one) is his shooting. His turnovers should also be addressed but from what I saw a lot of them were as a result of trying to make high-risk, high-reward plays. I'd say it would be more of his decision making that was the problem and not really his handles like I've seen some people say. Aside from that he's a pretty complete player and everything you want from a PG. Could be a starter down the line but in the meantime he'll make for a solid 3rd or 4th guard. Also anyone that watched him throughout the year could tell you his shot definitely progressed as the year went along which is a positive sign. It's not like Ben Simmons bad where a coach would actually tell him to not even shoot from a certain range.
You are right, apologies for the brain fart. I was lumping his multiple foot injuries in HS in addition to his 1 season at KY.
I mentioned Kevin Knox in another thread but he is now rocketing up boards (much as Donovan Mitchell did last year after I called him out).
Houston could end up buying multiple 2nd round picks on Thursday so keep your eyes out for some good sleeper picks. Who do you think would be worth a gamble?
I like Jarred Vanderbilt. I like Trevon Duval. And recently I have started to really like Dzanan Musa. Interesting that we may wanna but a bunch of 2nds. This is considered a deep draft with similar grades from mid 20s into the mid 40s. Buying a couple 2nds could be a way for some cheap depth, especially since we will be facing the luxury tax going forward. Not to mention the 2019 draft seems weak apparently. Thanks for the info as always @ch44
Vanderbilt, Allen, and Svi make a lot of sense In terms of fit and I wouldn’t mind seeing any one of them on the team. I think it would be wise to get a point guard that Chris can mentor for a few years. I just don’t know who that would be.
Really like the sound of this! Rockets need to "restock the crops" as Hinkie would put it. Getting some "cost controlled assets" could be very important with the LT years coming up.
I'm a fan of De'Anthony Melton. I love his anticipation defense. Kid looks like he could switch everything on defense too.
I hope we can get Yuta Watanabe but hes playing with the Nets for summer league. Hes 6'9, long, great defense, handle, versatile
Atlantic 10 DPOY. Fits Rockets profile because he's not just long but athletic, can switch on D and shoot 3ball.
