Perhaps he wont. But it still feels like the spot is still Tuckers to lose. That is to say, he will get there at some point, even if its next year. But who knows? Kemp could become a phenom by then.
I think the plan for Tucker is possibly a September call up. Then hold him down in AAA next year until super 2 cutoff day.
If they call him up in September, I doubt they worry about super 2. The service time in September would count, so that would push the super 2 cutoff to somewhere in July, which they probably would only wait for if he's struggling to start the year.
Luhnow has already said recently, paraphrasing "when he's ready and we think he can help us, he'll be here, the other considerations do not matter."
Bottom line is that Tucker is not hitting well enough to warrant a callup and he would need to turn it on over the course of at least a month before he’d be considered. That combined with Kemp, White, Davis, and Ferguson all hitting well in AAA leads me to feel like for now I don’t expect him to be up this season.
Well, yes. But we also have DH needs. If 1st was platooned somewhat, the other can still hit, and probably better than Gattis.
Looks like he played 2B last night. Cut Tuve! (I also really, really want to see highlights showing Tyler White turning a double play.)
