Thanks, didn’t realize that was the old thread. Here’s the link to the article: https://www.milb.com/milb/news/farm-system-rankings-21-and-under-talent/c-268414032
John Sickels’ Top 175 is out: https://www.minorleagueball.com/pla...&utm_source=twitter&__twitter_impression=true Astros: 8. Whitley 11. Tucker 53. Bukauskas 58. Alvarez 107. Armenteros 131. Paulino 143. C Perez 150. Davis He shies away from guys with short track records, which explains why Celestino, Solis, and Nova weren’t included. Mildly surprised not to see Hector Perez, Corbin Martin, and Riley Ferrell toward the end of the list. Former Astros prospects: 38. Franklin Perez 83. Jorge Guzman 86. Albert Abreu 115. Colin Moran 129. Jake Rogers 171. Brett Phillips Hard to believe Cameron isn’t in the top 175. Same for Eschelman. AL West counts: Astros 8 Angels 3 A’s 7 Mariners 2 Rangers 4
Interesting group of minor leaguers played the last part of today’s big league game: DH Stubbs 1B Reed 2B Birk SS Arauz 3B Trompiz RF Tucker CF Payano LF Kemmer
https://amp.mlb.com/269146158-astro...y=news_hou&c_id=hou&__twitter_impression=true Farm report on mlb.com. Farm Director gives props to Bukauskas, Bielek, Ruppenthal, Ivey on the pitching side, and Tucker, Alvarez, and Nova on the position player side. Obviously speculation but he mentioned Nova mixing it up with guys a few years older than him; if he were somehow assigned to QC in April he would immediately be a candidate to absolutely soar up prospect lists. I expect the rotations at all 4 levels to be near dominant from the get-go this year. That group of college arms they drafted looked great last year.
Astros Uncovered: System-Wide Power Focus “Enforced With All Hitters” By Brad Kyle http://therunnersports.com/astros-uncovered-system-wide-power-focus-enforced-with-all-hitters/
Thanks for reminding me that Matt Ruppenthal exists. Hadn't heard that name really since the draft. Those are both great reads, never would have seen them without yall, thanks.
Here is the list of players not expected to make the opening day roster in order of # of mlb spring training AB/IP they have received so far by position: C Fedorowicz, Stubbs, Ritchie, Robinson, Bracamonte, Papierski, Quintana, Castro 1B Reed, Jones, McCall 2B Kemp, Birk, Almonte SS Mayfield, DeGoti, A. Sierra, Nunez, Arauz, M Sierra, Duarte, Michelena, Trompiz 3B White, Cesar, Tanielu, Rojas, Toro RF Tucker, Wrenn, DeLaCruz, Payano CF Straw, Ferguson LF Kemmer, Garcia, Dawson, Alvarez, Matijevic SP Armenteros, Thornton, Paulino, Martes, Hauschild, F Valdez, C Perez, Sneed, Quiala, Emanuel, Bailey, Pinales RP McCurry, Guduan, Hoyt, Boshers, Dorris, Ramsey, Ferrell, Nunn, N Hernandez Should give a pretty good idea of who the org likes and where everybody will be assigned next week, although I would expect a few of those guys will be released.
Sieber, Machado, and Campos on today’s final big league spring training game lineup card. I wonder if that means Machado Campos and Nova will be assigned to QC. Would be a great sign for them.
