Jankowksi claimed by the Dodgers. Probably only doing that so they can dfa him knowing he will pass through and they can get him out of the Astros system; one less arm the stros have in case of emergency.

    Kit Scheetz @ Wisconsin: 5 IP, 4 H, 6 K

Scheetz has been quite the find; he signed as a free agent out of Virginia Tech not long after the draft.

The real story for Quad Cities today is that they're up 12-0 heading into the 7th. Chuckie Robinson has a grand slam (14), Josh Rojas whacked a 3-run homer (10), and Troy Sieber launched a solo homer (7). Daz Cameron hit a bases-clearing double in the 4th inning.

Does anyone know why Peter Solomon has not played yet?

I'm sure we can manage w/o a guy who posted a 5.13 era in AAA. Wonder if it means the FO feels like they're going to need the extra 40-man spot to add someone before the end of the month.

Daz Cameron has now brought his overall strikeout percentage down to 25% of his total at bats. For the first three months he was striking out at a 30% rate, for July and August it's been 17.5%.

You're right. I thought they were separate transactions. The 40-man is full. Still, I don't think losing Jankowski is a game changer in any way.

Daz Cameron with a 2R HR, 14th of the year. man he's killing it! Showing why he was looking like the #1 overall pick for a while.

Who is this Chuckie Robinson guy? Hitting .291/.347/.488 with 71 RBI as a catcher. 21st round pick last year out of Southern Miss. Anyone have any scouting reports on him?

He's also thrown out 45% of attempted base stealers (31/69)

Perfectgame had him rated a 10 as a high schooler, 1.81 pop times throwing 83mph from behind the plate.

Same year as Jake Rogers, who threw 75mph as a senior for 1.91 pop time.

Supposed to have good but not great defense. The question I saw on him coming out of the draft was if he would keep from striking out too much.

He has struck out ~23% of the time, which isn't awful but not great, especially considering he's been old for his leagues (he's almost 23 and still in A ball). And that has also been masked by high BABIP; not sure if that is due to luck or just really great contact.

He's the type of prospect (like most major college guys) that you can't really know much about until they get to AA. But obviously so far he has outperformed his draft position and is worth tracking.

17 yr old RHP Diosmerky Taveras got his 1st save for Blue today. He has a 0.00 era over 4 games in this, his 1st season in the DSL. He needs better control (walks/Ks = 1.00). But what do you expect from a 17 yr old?

Gilberto Celestino is currently 2-2 with a sac fly and a 2-run double for Greeneville.

The Appy Astros are smashing Bristol 11-0 in the 6th.

Colton Shaver just hit a walk-off grand slam for Tri-City... it's his second career grand slam, and they're both walk-offs. He also smacked a solo homer in the 2nd inning of Tri-City's 10-6 win over Brooklyn.

Shaver, who now has 10 homers (6 with Greeneville, 4 with Tri-City), was the Astros' 39th-round pick out of BYU a couple of months ago.

Obviously, he is unworthy of your notice oh great & powerful one. I apologize for polluting this forum with the name, Diosmerky Taveras. I shall not do it again

Since his 2-homer game in the first game of a doubleheader back on August 3, Freudis Nova is 4-38 at the plate.

The point was that you talked about the need for better control based on his K/BB rate over a 5.2 inning stretch. It's just silly to make any sort of determination like that based on 5.2 innings.

He's 17 which was mentioned in the post so that likely factors into his determination. Based on his K/BB rate, only 5.2 innings, and age, it is silly to make any determination other than he needs better control in the absence of other information (high draft pick, big bonus, placement in full season affilate). Granted, not listing the innings exaggerates his point, but calling his statement silly implies you think a 17-year old doesn't need better control. I'm going out on a limb and thinking he probably needs to work on his control as 5.2 innings just isn't enough for me to think otherwise.

Quick, someone make a bet that this guy will be a top 100 prospect.

He does have a great name.
