The judging was a bit weird this time, Gervin+Melo won while teams like my Isiah+Manu+Majerle+Webber+Gilmore+Dennis Johnson+Maurice Lucas got eliminated for supposedly bad defense against teams with clearly worse defenders.

Haha well, judging is often a bit weird, but it's like real life, sometimes it clicks and Dirk and a bunch of old dudes win a ring.

Horry has a very loaded starting unit, it's a weird team to me because Gervin just doesn't fit to my eyes on D or O, but in real life often players look like they don't fit, until they fit.

People said that Rasheed Wallace was going to make the Pistons worse, but he turned them into champions. Plus there's Jason Kidd on that team who was a master of making players fit.

In other words I wouldn't bet on this team to win, but it might win. :)

Anyway, is this matchup officially over?

If it's over, then congrats to Horry!

Honestly, I'm a bad judge for roster comparisons, much less with players (like what don had) who I don't know.

Also for upcoming drafts, do we vote them on a 7-game series? 1 game?
Because in most of my votes, I always mention a game 7 and which team looks like it would last longer.

I always assume it's basically playoffs with 7 games. It's not some pickup game. And before playoffs, folks get a chance to build chemistry and train and play together, like in real life.

Otherwise teams with a lot of real life teammates would always win because of chemistry.

Anyway, that's how I see it, but I don't remember if we ever discussed it.

Also I remember in the past I voted against Yao's team because A) I felt that Yao was 50/50 to be injured for the series, and B) there was no decent backup for him on that team.

So yep, basically I judge assuming it's like real NBA teams and real playoffs. What happens if the Spurs have this bunch of players and the Rockets have this bunch of players and they meet in the playoffs?

I had that in mind at first for this draft... but since we're not going by any specific year, I assume we pick the player at his healthiest and statistical peak. Like Grant Hill for example, I assumed we're voting for the player in the year he was most injury free and/or highest statistical performance.

I also tried to put into consideration on how mentally unstable the player could be in a 7-game series. Like if Sheed was matched up against Rodman... I could imagine one of the two being ejected and could cost his team the series (like Green this year did due to suspension).

Yep, Grant Hill was basically an ironman in his prime, until he broke his ankle. Some other players just were injury prone in their prime.

If my Pacers traded for a prime Grant Hill in the 90s, I'd think, ok, we have a superstar, come here Bulls

If they traded for Yao around 2007 when he was at his best, I'd be thinking "maybe he can stay on the floor and we are contenders, but lets get a really good backup."

Anyway, it's good to have different perspectives and look at different aspects, it makes it more interesting.

We should do a new 2016/2017 draft with the new forums. Notifications would make it a lot easier.
