    All,

My parents have a Mercedes ML 350, year 2007 with 46,000 miles on it only.

Dad's retiring and they're leaving the States, so I'm looking to help them sell the car. I don't want to keep it as it takes Premium fuel and my budget as a student doesn't allow for that.

The car history as far as I know:
2013 Feb - bought the car from a family friend
2012 June-ish - family friend bought the car from a seller in California
Prior history not known but the car was in great condition with perfect service records when the family friend, then we, bought it.

    It's in great condition:
    - We've owned it for a little over a year and a half
    - All services done as necessary
    - Oil changes and tire work has been done at Costco since it came to Houston in 2012 June
    - Our driving habits: only driven ~8 miles daily for work, 4-5 trips to Austin, and grocery shopping
    - garage parked
    - dad is meticulous and particular about keeping his car clean and no food inside the car
    - brake pads need to be changed; we will probably take care of that before selling
    - obviously accident free!

The Kelley Blue Book value that I come up with is ~$20,000, and I would like to sell it soon.

Here's one image of it from 2012 - I'll post more when I get a chance to take pictures.

I'll check in here every few hours or so; else PM's will work too.

    Thanks!

I still don't understand why you had to sell it. Your budget doesn't allow for a $0.30 surcharge for premium fuel? You can't even get a civic these days for $17,000. Unless you already had a car and you sold the ML just to have extra cash, I'm curious to know what your mindset was on a financial standpoint.

What's wrong with your license plate? Is this real life.

Does this mean it's been sold?

    In order of priority:
    1) Yes I have another car that's also in good condition with low miles and much less expensive to service when I take it back to the dealer. I don't want this ML because in the event of any emergency service required, I wouldn't be able to take care of it myself - would have to run home to parents asking for money and I'm certainly not doing that.

    2) I have too many things on my plate and wanted to get rid of this thing as soon as possible to focus on my other tasks again. I'm ok with a loss at the moment for this luxury.

    3) Apart from the money issue, I'm a grad student and have this 'status' feel in my mind - I'll earn the Merc when I get to working instead of being gifted it.

    4) I live in Austin and there's another headache in moving the car there and again going through the process of finding a local buyer. I just don't have enough time to work through all these things.

    Pretty cool effect right?

I've found a buyer and it's in the process of being sold, but not off my hands just yet. Hopefully by Wednesday it should get done.
