Do not get me wrong I am all for a SnT for Ibaka, Grant or Oubre. We can find other players who can be secondary ball handlers like, Josh Jackson, for vet min or at least for less than MLE. I just envision a long athletic and skilled 5 man line that can all be playmakers, defend 1-5, shoot 3ball, finish at rim, rebound, rim protect and run.
They can hire new agents and look forward to cashing in all they want ..... But there wont be much $$$ out there in FA and what little there is will go to the top tier FA's , not system role players. They'll make more $$$ staying in Houston than taking a vet min elsewhere. Covid killed the cap.
The movement in free agency will still happen and every player should try to cash in. Loyalty in free agency should never happen because ALL players only have a small window of their life to make as much as they can. Not many players will be making millions a year in their late 30’s. Just like for you and me every dollar counts. The real world doesn’t care what used to be or how friendly you were. Life outside the bubble is cruel and crazy. Most have to cut back their lifestyle and social circles to maintain a positive position in life. Sorry for rambling... free agency is the most important part of one’s career.
I don't disagree at all with the point of your post - but you missed the point of mine and that is that the money just isn't there in free agency. Those players will get 20% raises on the current minimum for staying put while they will get much a contracted cap valued veteran minimum elsewhere. You tell me which pays them more ....
I've thought this a while and in spite of his performance today, would Jonas work? He's not gunna beat Russ up and down the court by any means but he's no slouch. Good playmaker out the post and can hit the occasional 3 (when he's open.. which isn't even a discussion that needs to be had here anymore). The Grizz need wing help and thats where someone like EG can help. And if we manage to get a bit if luck and someone like Josh Green falls to our pick, him and EG for Jonas (plus maybe a 2nd or two?) could be fair value? Grizz signing Harty as a backup while JJJ moves to the 5 full time seems like a very Grizz move to make..
I mean.. ?? MDA would start Buddy considering he's "better than House". And the Kings basically want Heild to be what Gordon is. Plus they're the Kings so.. anything can happen.
I think our best outcome of a trade of EGo would be a 4-teamer (always hard to pull off) HOU: Justice Winslow (MEM) + TJ Leaf (IND) MEM: Doug McDermott (IND) + Tyler Herro (MIA) MIA: Victor Oladipo (IND) IND: Eric Gordon (HOU) + Kelly Olynyk (MIA) + 2020 or 2021 1st (MEM) Houston would also sign Noah Vonleh as a FA. Grizzlies get outside shooter to complement J3 and Ja. Winslow has never even played for Grizz. Heat have been pushing for Oladipo and it's said he wants to be there. Pacers replace Oladipo with EGo and Leaf with Olynyk while picking up a 20-ish 1st round pick. Rox strengthen bench and add more switchable defenders who can shoot the 3. Would need to re-sign Green and hope Rivers opts-in to 2nd year. (Possibly bring back Bruno as well) WB - Rivers - Clemons Beard - BMac - Frazier / Howard House - Nwaba - Caboclo Covington - Winslow - Leaf Tucker - Green - Vonleh i could also see a version of this sans Grizz where Rox end up with McDermott & Leaf (Oladipo to Heat // Olynyk + Herro + EGo to Indy)
I was trying to be respectful to Tuck wagon, but the truth would be Winslow to PF , RoCo to 5, and Tuck to backup 4/5. So in essence, Winslow would be a starter.
Harder to stop that 5 in transition and getting steals playing the passing lanes But I understand your point
Kangz wanna shed $$$. If TF’ll pay essentially EGo a go go for Buddy Buckets. I’d love it; I’m not counting on it.
