I remember the Clements v Elkins playoff battles... Loney could beat us single handedly...

Looks like other teams have scouting reports on our guys now. Knew this was coming.

Well the trainwrecks have centered around Pressly and James... the veterans on the staff. Cy Sneed was up last year... and just is bad.

I called it a night when the 'stros didn't score in the bottom of the ninth and Sneed was coming in for the 10th. He's just not the guy I want to see on the bump in extra innings (at home is bad enough, but definitely not on the road).

In all fairness to baseball history the Astros should ask Cy Sneed to change his name to Charlie or something.

    Small sample size warning....
Javier and Taylor have been fine though Javier isn't stretched out as a starter.

Pressly gets his stuff together, and bullpen should become steadier for high leverage. Bullpen's problem is that starters aren't stretched out and too many injuries has weakened the middle relief.

I don't understand what's going on with Pressly. The stuff appears intact but he has the lowest SwStr% this season since he's been an Astro. Gonna guess his mechanics aren't quite there inhibiting his command and making it easier for batters to see his pitches.

He is coming off a very unusual situation with the pandemic, then he had the issues before the season started and with him mechanics and grip are so important.... he is the type of guy that takes awhile..... plus he had issues late last season.

Ideally the Astros would drop him down in the pen and let him work it out...... the problem is they do not have that luxury.

As I've said before, the Stros need to get a closer. If they had a closer they would probably have 3-4 more wins and we would be looking at this season much differently.

Damn you, stats!! Watching a team with an inconsistent bullpen is a terrible way to go through a baseball season (abbreviated or not). Just.So.Deflating.

Well, the Phillies has the worst bullpen era through 12 games in MLB history.

My goodness SEVEN blown saves already?? I can't remember last time we had that many over an entire season. That explains, well, everything.

The blow save stat is (wait for it)... a bit overblown.

It also counts blown saves in the 6th, 7th and 8th innings (or 12th, 13th innings).

They have had three bona-fied 9th inning blown saves (all 1-run leads). One in the Osuna got hurt game, and the two recent ones by Pressly.

In the end, 1-run saves deserve their own stat. And blown saves should only apply to the potential last inning of the game.

I believe those were three losses, or did they win the Osuna game?
