    Definitely should be banned imo.

Should change the law. Anything banned in the country of origin should be banned here.

China can't complain they have banned Tik tok in China

This is so dirty. Trump puts regulatory pressure on TikTok to sell to Microsoft under duress. And of course Microsoft is happy to profit from government intervention.

It all comes down who you want stealing to your personal data. The Chinese, North Americans or the Russkies. Why can't Latin America develop an app to steal all your data. Maduro and Putin can share it. =/

No. But the US should push for data protection and privacy as hard requirements, applied globally and not targeted. Also, as there are only 3 to 4 app stores in the US, the issue could be handled through apple, Microsoft, google and amzn for the time being, instead of directly with each countries or all companies.

Is EU banning these? They have stronger data privacy laws and protection than the US. Be a follower of EU for now until the US can lead.

There is a reason India banned it. Yes banning it is the smart move. The Chinese want to subvert the US with propaganda. They already pay off our media and politicians.

Well looks like the TikTok and WeChat bans start this Sunday.

    https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/18/tech/tiktok-download-commerce/index.html

It seems if you already have TikTok you can still use it, but you can't update the apps. It will be fully banned on Nov 12 if Oracle doesn't work out the deal with ByteDance

WeChat on the other hand will be illegal to use in any capacity per the article starting Sunday.
