If so what Year is your favorite?

I have to go with the 15 year (although I have only tried the 23 year once).

There are too many good whiskeys out there to spend that kind of money on a bottle or a pour regularly. I know a couple of guys who seek out and collect rare whiskeys and even for them Pappy is too high.

I've only tried the 15 year and it was good, but not worth the price.

If you want to try something good, affordable and can find easily look for Weller Special Reserve. Wheated bourbon from the same distillery.

    That's my go-to.

Agreed on Pappy, it's delicious but the market for it is just ridiculous.

I'll give Weller a try. Never had or even seen Pappy.

Weller is affordable and a decent whiskey, but good luck finding it right now, at least in my area. They pretty much halted the bottling of 750s and are keeping the juice for other whiskeys. It's not close to a pappy, there's just not enough depth to it. its older brother, Weller 12yr old, would be though, but extremely hard to find.

An easy wheated bourbon to be had right now is Larceny and that is also cheap. For another go to bourbon that could be had cheap is early times bottled in bond, although not wheated. Daviess county is also good for another wheated.

Never tried it. Always wanted to though. I’m normally just a Jameson on the rocks drinker.

I've got a poor man's pappy ready to try but no taste experience of the real stuff to compare it to.

Pretty sure they slowed down bottling of Weller and reduced distribution of it nationwide.

Really? I was just joking. Guess I've never had a problem finding a bottle of something good whenever the mood strikes.

I'm tempted to buy a good bottle of rum next time...haven't had rum drinks in a long time. No idea what to buy though...yet.

Youre into literature. Papa Pilar rum is inspired by Ernest Hemingway and is damn good rum as well.

Been on a bourbon kick since quarantine (for obvious reasons). So far have tried:

    Heaven’s Door from TN
    Larceny
    Basil Hadens
    Kentucky Vintage Original
And now on Smoke Wagon from NV

Not a connoisseur but thought Heavens Door has been the best of the bunch.

Not a fan of Heavens Door from what I remember. Its Bob Dylans and I think it was a cash grab, cause that guy needs more money apparently. Ive been trying to find some Smoke Wagon for awhile now with no luck. Its highly regarded in whiskey circles and has won some gold medals in San Fran. You should try the Daviess County French Oak or Cabernet finish- around $40. Also the Early times is a bottled in bond for around $25 for a liter and not a 750. Sazerac is a rye that doesnt really drink like a rye and thats another good one for around $30

Doesn't look like a can get Daviess County around Houston. Specs had quite a few bottles of Smoke Wagon when I went.

You should be able to. It's distributed by the biggest distributor and is available to all stores.
